First off i dont normally follow any movies this closely as I am doing with R1 so, is it normal to have only little bits of info about a movie being less than 6 months away?

Well typically not since the usual wait for things to start can be as much as 8 months depending on how big the property is...but since this is sw it should be the new normal, but it should be worth considering we never really would get much information during the prequels let alone anything at all in the originals.

As frustrating as it may seem sometimes, I think this is quite normal. But now that we're getting closer to the film's release, we'll learn some more as we get into autumn. But don't expect an enormous amount of details. You'll have to see the film for those. ;)

It seems that they have a tighter lid on R1 then they do/did of VII

Gotta agree with @jmjawors. The closer the more we will get. With TFA,as I remember, the more accurate and more filled leaks and rumors popped up about September and October.Same should be with official info's.

I'm sure we'll be getting a brand new trailer and presumably some other tidbits of information about the film not found in the trailer at Celebration Europe, which is less than a month away.

The leaks in Rogue One have definitely been less than with TFA. With celebration coming up I expect we will definitely getting some more official info on Rogue One. As far as official marketing goes, I expect it to be similar to TFA. After Celebration, we won't get much more new material until Oct/Nov and then the floodgates will open.

i'm not exactly unhappy about this.. i genuinely wouldn't mind going into rogue one completely blind. i literally knew everything that was going to happen in TFA and i feel like i may have enjoyed it more if i didn't.. so we'll see!! hopefully they keep episode VIII completely under wraps until it releases.
