So we thought he might say "dissatisfied"? I don't read anything into this unless he's referring to people being dissatisfied with TLJ, which I don't think he would ever let on, even though it sucked.

I agree. TFA delighted, TLJ surprised (by it sucking, but I digress), EpIX will surely satisfy (right? I keep telling myself this.)

The crime of purposely dividing the fan base. That's not an opinion. That's a fact.

I wouldn’t know where to start with that post without getting personal, so I’ll agree to disagree and bail out of the thread.

Theft is a crime. Rape is a crime. Murder is a crime. But dividing fans by telling a story Rian wanted to tell isn't a crime. That's fact. Yes, I'm not the biggest fan of TLJ, but I don't hate Rian or even see him as a criminal. I actually admire him for getting his vision on the big screen.

If you want a lot of people to listen to your message then you better know the definition of God's law, because man made laws won't work here. God's law comes before man made laws. You make a movie for the people then you better know how to reach them.

Are you really bringing the "New Testament" into this? It's just a movie, a piece of entertaintment and not a religion. Akira Kurosawa - one of the greatest directors ever - once said that you make movies for yourself and not for an audience. If you make a movie for an audience you will restrict yourself. The real trick his to have a vision which satisfies a lot of people. This is impossible for SW. "You can't please everyone." - Mark Hamill

@Corn Cream please leave your earthly faith in a deity (and even religion) at the door.

    Thanks.

I'm bringing common sense into this. These movies are made for the general audience. Not a specific audience. If you want to reach them, then you better know how. TLJ was a restrictive movie, and anyone can see that. Instead of expanding the universe. He constricted it. You can't please everyone, but let's stop making excuses for not trying harder. I don't want to hear any excuses. People want to brag how good these directors are in the beginning, but when it's proven they are in way over their heads, the excuses start to fly.

Rian can do whatever he wants when it's his original vision. Right now he is playing in someone else's sandbox, and he showed he is incapable of taking what's there and working with it.

I really do hope JJ is able to bring it home. Say what you want about him and his ability to finish, he knows the expectations. And if rumors are true, bringing in Lucas to talk things over, even if just for a day or so, is a smart move.

Anyway, I'm starting to get a tad bit excited for IX. The state of the fandom might be split, but there should be plenty of goodness in 2019: the Clone Wars final season, the Mandalorian and then IX.
