Jabba The Hutt to return in Solo

I wouldn't be too surprised if this ends up being the case, regardless of the validity of this article's sources.

 

I remember hearing that they were digging around all the old props to try and find the RotJ Jabba puppet so they could use it as the base for a cg model. The only thing is that Jabba was way skinnier pre-ANH then he was in RotJ so I hope they remember that and we don't get a stupid continuity error.

 

I like the E4 Special Edition version of Jabba (the revised blu-ray CG Jabba, not the original 1997 one - the 1997 one was atrocious). If they use that CG model as their basis, I think it would look good. I also like the idea of him being able to move, as opposed to merely being motionless on a platform, but I guess that would depend on storyline.

 

They kinda have to make him look like that because we know what he looked like in Phantom Menace and what he looked like in A New Hope and he pretty much looked the same in both. Since this is in between those two he should pretty much look liked what he did in Phantom menace.

 

That is a sloppily written article and if true, a huge spoiler to be thrown out there like that, but I have said on multiple occasions, I would love for Jabba to be in the movie.

 

Jabba has been know around the universe as being on of the greatest sex symbols of all time. I glad the he is still connected to his roots and wont mind getting in front of the camera again. He is keeping it really.

I think he'll be in there though, regardless of the report.

 

The Sun is just about the most unreliable newspaper you can possibly read. I’m not buying their story at all, but I don’t doubt for a minute that Jabba the Hutt is probably in Solo. He’s kind of a big part of Han Solo’s story, so it would make sense for him to be in the film.

 

I wouldn't be surprised either if Jabba appears. That's kind of a given.

It would be interesting to see what happens to his son Rotta, introduced to us in the movie The Clone Wars, where Anakin and Ahsoka saved Jabba's baby. I know most people didn't like that movie, but it brought an unexpected canon fact: Jabba had a son (which is never see in the OT) and the mighty baddy gangster really cared about his heir apparent.

Solo happens a few years after the events TCW. Rotta may be child or teenager depending on how their species grow. I wouldn't expect him to be critical to the plot of course. We know writers/produces/directors of the ST and standalone movies don't really care much about the stories told in the animated shows. The best we can hope for Rotta would be a quick cameo as a token of fan service, or a verbal reference. But, who knows?

 

Yeah I did think the thread title was kinda spoilery.... it didn't exactly take me by surprise, but still would have been a nice reveal, you know, during the movie as opposed to 2 months beforehand....

 

It was expected that their partnership would begin on the big screen. Can't wait see what their first exchange will be.

 

Maybe we will get to see Han step on Jabba's tail again!

 

I don't think the hutt crime lord will let him do it a second time, these crime lords don't like being disrespected, maybe it was the first chance he got to do it in ANH, he was lucky he could hold off the debt.

 

Yeah I get it, I just don't want it to be a predictable scene. Still take the Han charm again just no stepping on hutt tales.

 

Cool. I like Jabba. My biggest fear, is that they try to fit 15 years of Han's story into 2 hours. If they do it right it can be cool.

 

I don't believe we will see Jabba the Hutt in Solo. They will probably reference him, but we will not see him. Jabba would require a huge set piece since the Disney Star Wars relies on practical FX for their aliens and creatures. Neal Scanlan does not appear to be interested in resurrecting old school aliens when he can create new creatures and aliens. Obviously, we see Twi'Lek dancing women in the trailer, but every other creature appears to be a new design. I could be wrong and Solo does surprise us with Jabba the Hutt. I bet we would see Boba Fett before we see Jabba the Hutt in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
