You didnt just say the source wrong, but it wasnt a Model used... it was just a picture...

and it was a very different kind of ship.

But I have to dig up my "legacy of the EU" thread because my point is... that this is something the EU did, that had an effect on the final film... the ship may not make it into the film, but the angle of the ship from that picture... had an effect on how the Star Destroyer would look in the final film...

The EU may be gone... but its Echoes live on!

The idea is not rediculous. It's just a regular idea.

So Tatooine AND Jakku are both desert planets with SDs crashed into them? Sure, why not. Doesn't every desert planet have a couple crashed Star Destroyers?

It used to bother me that JJ would tell us it's Jakku with the possibility that it could turn out to be Tatooine but now I'm not going to be too bothered by it. Jakku, Tatooine, whatever. I just want a damn good movie come December!

While I don't discard the idea that Jakku could end up being Tatooine, I just can't think of any reason as to why they would hide this from us. What possible plot twist could come from the audience realizing at some point that Jakku is ideed Tatooine? Any suggestions?

Your're totally missing the point of my post.

The video game has destroy-able environments that have nothing to do with real canon. The link I copied shows game play with a crashing star destroyer as an example of this.

The battlefront picture with Boba Fett and the game play video of Tatooine have absolutely NOTHING to do with Jakuu.

Hold on partner - JJ never said Jakku had the possibility of turning out to be Tatooine. Lets not feed the conspiracy. ;)

JJ did say Jakku was a new planet no mention of Tatooine in relation.

Oh, I know that. I'm just hoping that Jakku is just Jakku and Tatooine is just Tatooine.

I've just gotta keep hope alive. I've got 500 credits on Jakkooine!

And the large-scale battle over Tatooine may end up being part of canon. Only time will tell.

There's going to be a large scale battles over every map in Battlefront. Its a video game. You can also play as hero character on any map in any time frame, including ROTJ Luke against Darth Vader in the battle of Hoth. Its all just fun. None of it is canon.

If you still think Jakku could be Tatooine, I'll be happy to take your money in the casino. But you simply can not use Star Wars Battlefront as evidence to support your theory.

Who knows. It could just be misdirection, keeping us away from plot details. Rey being on Tatooine would have way more implications than a random new planet. Maybe there is some minor or major reveal. Maybe has something to do with Luke or Anakin. I don't know.

Well, Hoth = canon largescale battle. Endor = canon largescale battle. So a largescale battle on Tatooine being canon at some point (verified by a book or something) is not out of the question. I'm just deducing and speculating, of course. But do you think the story group is gonna let there be a largescale battle of Tatooine if there is nothing comparable in canon? The way I understand it is that Battlefront is loosely based in canon. (of course Luke didn't fight Vader on Hoth, but the Battle of Hoth happened in canon. Same with Endor.)

You've obviously never played battlefront before.

The whole point of the games is that they are 3rd person shooters set in the star wars universe. They are not, and have never had any canon implications on Star Wars.

All battles take place on planets seen in the movies and all battles are large scale. Yes, some battles like Hoth and Endor are recreations similar to the movies.

However most battle maps in battlefront 2 take place on planets like Tatooine, Cloud city, Yavin, Kamino, and Ren Var where no official movie battle ever happened. They are fictional "what if" war creations that serve as playable maps for the game play and nothing more. For instance, you can play as the droid army vs the clones on Mos Eisley. Its just meant for fun.

Now repeat after me - Battlefront is not canon. Battlefront is not canon. Battlefront is not canon...

Quick correction - the campaign in the new game is canon, along with the content they introduce in the game. Nothing else is, though. It's all for fun!

Exactly. And very very loosely similar to at that.

    Absolutely.

Well, within reason, of course. There's a certain amount of hyperbole on the part of EA trying to sell their product there obviously.
Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars™: The Force Awakens™
Clearly it goes without saying that no two games in that environment are going to play out exactly the same way, so it is not like there is any kind of narrative truth to be gleaned from this experience. Did the Rebels win at Jakku? Yeah, if you play as the Rebellion and complete the levels. Did the Empire win? Yeah, if you play as the Empire and complete the levels. Did Vader stomp all over Jakku cutting down Rebel troops with his saber? I'm guessing you may be able to make that possible if you unlock that character and use him on those levels...
I'm sure there will cut scenes and set ups which reveal some kind of narrative element, but it's plain to see they are taking a few liberties with the entire concept of what is *canon* to some degree with that pitch. It's all fairly relative, I'd imagine.
Unless these particular pieces of DLC are strictly linear, but that doesn't sound like Battlefront to me...

It's Jakku. Darth Plagueis' first decree as supreme leader was a name change for Tatooine. He was going to call it "I Hate Sand" but he sneezed.
