Our first look at the sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order is reportedly set to arrive at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, in the absence of this year having a dedicated presentation event for all upcoming Electronic Arts titles.

Once again, games journalist (and proved scooper) Jeff Grubb has noted that we'll be getting the official announcement of the Fallen Order follow-up before this year's halfway point. The VentureBeat reporter has offered a clearer time-frame now on his latest podcast while answering fan questions about what he knows about the title, claiming that the game will be revealed and discussed at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim this May, following the decision of Star Wars game distributor Electronic Arts to cancel their planned EA Play presentation intended to appear later this year. Here's what he said about the game and its release window:

Grubb explained that a 2022 release is still possible for the game, given EA's schedule for their upcoming video games. You can watch his full podcast below, with the Fallen Order sequel segment beginning at 1:38:04:

Fallen Order, the first game in Respawn Entertainment's Jedi series, followed Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who spent five years after the end of the Clone Wars keeping his head down on the planet Bracca, home to a massive salvaging operation to strip decommissioned Republic ships for parts to help in the construction of new Star Destroyers. But when a friend of his is in danger, Cal uses the Force to save him in a way that reveals his big secret to the Empire - and he soon finds himself hunted by Inquisitors who are searching for any survivors of the Order 66 purge. As he goes on the run, Cal teams up with a motley crew sympathetic to the plight of the Jedi as they search of a Holocron that may be the key to rebuilding the Jedi Order. The narrative itself is pretty self-contained, giving a sequel pretty a much free reign to go in whatever direction the developers want for the sequel.

The untitled Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel is in development at Electronic Arts, alongside two other Star Wars titles.
