I took to this thread for the sole purpose of seeing if anyone else got wrecked by that Chopper and Hera moment. Lol. It's good to see I was not alone. It was very undroid-like and out of character for him, but it worked beautifully in the episode.

Good Lord. As Elinor Dashwood in S&S said: “There is a painful difference between the expectation of an unpleasant event and its final certainty”. Even if I had spoilers, last night I watched Rebels & cried for Kanan, the last padawan. He is one with the Force now.

The most poetic and sad thing is that he died like years before his master Depa Villaba did: he sacrificed himself to save others, including his apprentice. If that is not the true spirit of the Jedi I don’t know what it is then.

I thought I would be just shedding some tears and had my eyes completely watering but oh dear, I was mistaken. I was literally a crying mess. Everyone, especially Freddie Prinze Jr and Vanessa Marshall knocked it out of the park.

Is that you, Palpatine? Sad but true.

Quoting Ben Solo: "You're not alone". (Lol)

I'll admit that I shed a tear during Kanan's death. I don't know if you saw Rebels Recon but they show a clip where Freddy and rest of the voice actors find out that Kanan is going to bite the dust, Freddy lost it.

a quite noticeable and very welcome difference in tone all of a sudden in these two episodes.
the music, dialog and general feel... all seemed a bit... punchier if that makes sense?

it was sad to see Kanan go... but what a way to go!

i'm equal parts excited and afraid of the rest of the season, which i think is a good thing lol

Watching a day late, but last night my 10yr old daughter and I watched Kanan die.

She screamed out "NO! WHY DID HE DO THAT?!?!"

I was fine until she did that, then I broke too. She loved the Zeb hug and Chopper hand holding as well.

She recently lost her great-grandmother and Grandmother (my mom) within 1 year, so seeing the rebels mourn and have a familial reaction to his death was familiar territory to her and was good for her to see that it's ok to cry and also be angry and also question what your next steps should be.

Great episode and we are looking forward to next week. It'll be an emotional ride from here on out I'm sure!

Agreed. I've figured S4 would be darker and more dramatic, and I've been frustrated all year because the first half of the season just seemed... mostly inconsequential.

Now we know why- we're really hitting the ground running, and I bet we won't stop until it's over.

Well put. I think one of the reasons this hit so hard is that we don't really get to see anyone mourne in the movies. People die and their friends move on, because there isn't time to deal with death in a serious way in those films.

I believe these episodes are some of the best yet. They are very entertaing to watch compared to some of the older Rebels episodes in my opinion. R.I.P Kanan. Can’t wait for the final buildup in the last handful of episodes left.

One week on, still enjoying these episodes. Box of tissues on hand when Kanan's time comes.

Perhaps. But others also refer to me as The Senate.

If Kanan gets credit for destroying the fuel depot and stopping the TIE fighter development, then is he also to blame for the destruction of Alderaan? Hmm, something to think about.
