I think Tashu is one of Palpatine's advisors from ROTJ.

 

i'm not finished reading, but i'm not feeling the Rax=Snoke connection.

Rax is not ancient and he's too physically present (and not the least bit vulnerable, it seems).

 

I thought maybe the Ewok shaman, Logray, had officiated while Wicket would be the flower boy lol. Luke would walk the bride and Chewie would act as best man with Lando and Wedge lol.

Yeah, he does not give me yet that "fishy eye toilet monster" vibe. He gives me more the Grand Admiral Thrawn vibe - not by his looks, but by his cunning and scheming.

 

yeah, he's too slick to be Snoke. Snoke is pretty straight-forward except where it comes to Kylo Ren (at least in the book).
Snoke is not a politician. he just does things and who cares about the consequences because he's just that confident.
Rax is smarmy as all get out. he's playing people. sure, he could evolve over the next thirty years, but again, Snoke strikes me as someone with a millennium of wisdom at his fingertips. Rax is still very wet behind the ears, even if he is very gifted.

 

Is it a coincidence that Rax and Rey were both orphaned on Jakku?

 

I know, all the roads seem to lead to Jakku. Really looking forward to learn more about it.

Well... it depends. If they were named on the movies, you are correct, that is canon.

If they were named on any of the previous novelizations of ROTJ, they are not canon anymore.

I was reading recently the novelization by James Kahn, and it has a lot of stuff that is outdated and does not match the current canon.

It is like the Nik Sant case. This character was identified as the gray beard guy in the Endor Rebel Alliance strike team by additional material for ROTJ, but since that is not considered as canon by LFL, even Dave Filoni speculated that onscreen un-named guy could be Captain Rex

 

I thought Tashu might be connected or something when I read the first book. Glad that one character on the Imperial side made it out alive, that is one of the aspects of the Aftermath series I enjoy, that character (I know it's a spoiler thread, but well you know)

Yeah, Logray would be cool and probably would work. Only C3PO would understand him. Ackbar with the way he talks would have just been fun. I always pictured it happening around the time of the Ewok happy party even if the extended universe made it years after. I think it was even considered to be part of the ending, or something George Lucas said in an interview that made me think that it would have been right after.

No, I think that would be terrible , what he thought of doing, would have made Chewie more of a father than what he was.

 

No, they've been identified in canon post-EU-wipe. Check the Wook.

 

Yeah, I recall reading that somewhere. Maaaan! My fangirl heart would have loved to see that onscreen LOL.

Well it sounds like there is a lot of weirdness in bunkers or the like. I am sure it will come out.

Loved Leia saving the day too and stealing that piece of junk. And pregnant.

Reading all of this is even more poignant since we know what's coming later. But it's as Leia said, leave that for Future Leia to worry and let Leia of the Present Day be pleased with herself. I would lie if i say I was not beaming literally when reading that part.

 

the business about Leia being a torch for Alderaan slayed me.

also, i smugly thought i'd get through chapter 39 just fine ~ until that last handful of paragraphs and Han saying there was no way Chewie wasn't going to be in his life.

that was dirty rotten emotional trickery ~ hahaha

 

And by "his life" we know who else he is talking about. Awww the feels.
