Ahhhh. I’ve not listened to the soundtrack beginning to end yet, I just flicked through the tracks quickly and actually didn’t bother listening to that one based on the title, assumed it would have been part of ‘Into The Maw’ and was just shortened.

Ok ignore me for being daft haha.

Still, Maul and Q’ira’s departure along with the credits are sadly still very missing.

Can't remember what played during the credits, even though I stayed for the entirety of it... :p If there was some kind of medley of all the new themes, it would be cool to get it in some form. If it was just "The Adventures of Han" (which seems like a natural choice for credits), well, we didn't miss anything, since it's on the soundtrack anyway.

Haha OMG after having been pointed out twice as to what a spoon I am, I can't believe how I missed this!!! Got it playing now, thank you so much for correcting me, otherwise I'd continue to be mopey about it... it's going on my custom Battlefront 2015 1-player soundtrack (as anyone who's followed my posts knows - not that I'm arrogant enough to assume anyone has haha, I don't play BF2). :)

I have to be honest, I just find the 'Hope' theme from R1 into the classic credits music is just glorious, to have it end on 'Hope's final notes and just change to the bonus-track suite themes for me just rids it classic Star Wars bombast. This for me, is just stunning and what has me leaving the cinema smiling from ear to ear like a 6 year old again:

But then again, my criticism stands for the reissue of the OT soundtracks too, I can't believe the complete (well, mostly, given some SE deletions) soundtracks from the special editions aren't the standards for the current availability of Star Wars soundtracks - namely two discs of every single piece of incidental music, instead of abbreviated themes and total removals, which for me just feels like a total disservice to the brilliance of the music that makes Star Wars all the more special.

like with all things Star Wars these days, i don't mind the callbacks, the fan service, the easter-eggs, whatever. but i'm all for new stuff and that's what makes me most excited: new characters, new planets, new aliens and weapons; familiar to the world, but new.

i think the new composers have done like Erenreich: they've served what came before, but they're not replicating it (and they shouldn't try to!).
there's pretty much zero chance i'll ever see Harrison Ford play Han Solo ever again. i'm okay with that.
if i want classic John Williams Star Wars, i'll watch/listen to classic Star Wars.

but i have no ear for any of this, so my opinion is honestly of little merit. i just like what i like. XD

@Daddy_Stardust With you on this! I drove my wife crazy while R1 was in the theater because I had to stay during this awesome end credits score. She was like "this isn't Marvel, there is no credits scene" I was like "I know, just listen!!!!"

I really dig Solo's score. Han Solo finally has a theme, and it's and instant classic. John Powell uses the theme in almost every track in the album, and I personally prefer the Solo score over Rogue One, despite being a big Giacchino fan. And it makes me so happy that we are four movies into the Disney era and allready have so much good music to listen to. I allready wrote it in my status, but I think the Solo music really fits nicely in the musical Star Wars canon. At the same time the composers own style really shines through, which makes it feel very fresh to me. I hope he returns to make more.

Oh don't get me wrong, I totally love the new music, I just don't like elements of the soundtrack being removed for commercial release. I just want to enjoy every amazing piece as it appeared in the movie; totally uncut releases for the fanbase to enjoy at their own leisure instead of select-cuts being released for a more 'highlights' based release. Even if they admittedly removed a few moments like Lapti Nek and Yub Nub, the special edition soundtracks with their fully compiled 2-disc comprehensive collections of all music featured should just be the standard by which all Star Wars soundtracks should be released at, instead of one-hour single-disc 'greatest hits' compilations.

Yeah, especially in the digital age it doesn't seem like a huge effort to put out special, extended soundtracks. It doesn't have to be CD. Just isolate music track TLJ-style, chop it into pieces, add some mastering and there you go. I'd love to get complete scores of all films.

who knows what the decisions are, but i agree they're weird.
i'm still annoyed that the "chicken in the pot" song isn't the actual one from the movie, but i like the one on the soundtrack anyway. : D

I loved the score! Insomuch as I even noticed it, which is a good thing. I also thought the R1 score was a real winner as well. I thought TFA and TLJ lacked on the soundtrack front though. Not that Williams has lost the magic or anything, but it was neat to hear others' take on it.

I didn't notice the Imperial March the first time, but the second time I listened for it and it fits.

In fact, I made a playlist of all of the soundtracks from all the films and put it on shuffle to see if I could pick out which songs went with which films. R1 and SOLO stood out, and surprisingly the prequels soundtracks were really strong. Say what you will about the films (they ain't bad) but the soundtracks were killer.

A few observations after my 2nd viewing of the film:

    - There's a bold statement of the Imperial March, which I forgot about after the first viewing. It's at the very beginning of the Mimban sequence. Great cue overall, shame it's not on the soundtrack.
    - The coaxium motif is hard to catch, but it looks like it's at 3:30 in "Mine Mission." It plays when Han opens the vault and sees coaxium. I didn't hear it other times coaxium appeared, but maybe it's just hard to spot in the cinema.
    - The "secret theme" that John Powell mentioned might be the melody at 3:53 in "Testing Allegiance." It could refer to Qi'ra's secret, her dark side (no pun intended).
    - Unfortunately I had to roll and I couldn't listen to the full credits, but I heard around a minute of the post-Finale medley and it sounds like a new arrangement! I that's true, this is such a bummer it didn't end up on the soundtrack...
    - Can't remember exact moments, but there were a lot of interesting pieces that were not on the soundtrack. For example Han vs Chewie with a pretty cool, ominous-sounding version of Chewie's theme in there somewhere. I also noticed loads of great little thematic nods. Very conscious effort by Powell.

I can confirm that this moment is not on the soundtrack. The album version ends with Qi'ra putting the ring into the thing. So it cuts as Maul appears.

The music was fantastic. I loved it more than in the music in the sequels to be honest. I'm not going to be nitpicky about how many people did this or that, they were blending old styles with new, etc. This is the digital age. They used to have to play the movie over and over with the composer and other people helped then as well with placement when it was done the old fashioned way and perhaps got no credit. People are still not getting credit as others have said. Then you had the rare great soundtrack, Once Upon A Time in the West, where Morricone wrote the music first, then Leone had the actors choreography with the music.

The fact that frog bubbles wasn't like it was in the movie bothered me as well on the recording put out as the soundtrack.

SOLO viewing #4 and I have fallen in love with this score....so many special moments, very powerful, uplifting, sweeping, uniquely arranged and welcomed in the SW cinematic universe.

Some themes I picked up on this time and really love, the part 2:08 to 2:26 in "Corellia Chase", crazy percussion!!! This is near the end of the chase when Han is madly turning through the spaceport....also LOVE "Flying with Chewie"

Powell really suprised me with his score in this movie. Some of the music was just amazing. Especially the song the Marauders arrive. Just epic really.

I love how it kicks in when she jumps off the roof at the end.

By the way, it's weird that some cues are out of order on the soundtrack. The moment I'm talking about is in "The Good Guy" which comes even before "Reminiscence Therapy." Big departure from the movie order.
