Johnson's trilogy presents an unprecedented oppopportunity for the franchise. Three whole films to focus the story somewhere new, go in-depth with something other than the Skywalker saga, maybe even other than the Jedi-Sith conflict.

With that in mind, what nerdy fanboy stuff tops the list of things you want in a new trilogy?

    My list:

    1. Massive lightsaber battles. Battle of Gondor with lightsabers. My childhood imagination was absolutely captured by descriptions of the Sith War, armies against armies wielding laser swords--but we still haven't seen this in a film. Doesn't even have to be Old Republic stuff. Any two lightsaber-weilding armies will do.

    2. A major alien protagonist. None of the new films, and none in the visible future, have given us a Chewbacca-type figure: the alien lead we come to know and love. We have barely even had aliens as prominent as Jabba or Boss Nass. Make an alien character important again.

    3. New schools of the force. TLJ implies that the force is bigger than the Jedi. Make good on this promise. Do something other than Jedi and Sith. What would it look like, for example, to see an order improperly balanced toward the light? If Jedi in fact seek balance, and Sith follow the darkness, what does it look like for a group to purely follow light? Would that bring its own inherent downfalls?

That's my list for now. What's yours?

*Obligatory post-TLJ note: this is purely fun speculation, a wish list, not a list of demands. Let's remember that being wrong and having our expectations foiled in good ways is half the fun.

Hummmm...if they dont repeat the mess of the PT related to the exposure of too many sabers. That battle of Geonosis was quite horrible. When the subject are sabers, in my opinion less is better.

Agree. Maybe its time to have an alien protagonist, or even an alien antagonist. Great idea.

I understand the sour taste, but I don't think the problem was too many sabers. I think the problem was the poor setup and execution and the whole stinker of a movie around it.

After all, we've had huge battles in movies like Lord of the Rings and they work fine--why should the change from swords to sabers matter? A large-scale, well-filmed battle where you actually care about heroes on both sides could be fantastic.

My #1 is Mara Jade, always will be.

    Maralightsaber.jpg

I'd like to see her initially as the antagonist, kind of like Ventress, and then turn on those that were above her to be the hero in the end.

My #2: Lightsabers...from Jedi and Sith (or Sith-ish).

My #3: I want to see Coruscant and the Jedi Temple again.

I hope he takes lessons from GDT and Shape of Water and includes a lot of interspecies hanky panky.
I mean, just having thela-siren teats went over so well....

My only wish isn't even specific to this new trilogy, but here it is: a planet inspired by Emerald City from The Wizard of Oz. Seriously, its look fits straight into a sci-fantasy flick like Star Wars.

The entire Star Wars saga has been ruined for me (and others) by the most recent films and is sadly no longer fun or anticipated with enthusiasm.
I have no plans to see any further films under its current ownership and direction.

Coruscant hits close, but there's something about a city made out of a single precious stone that is particularly attractive (at least to me.)

I liked the idea as an homage to this great movie.
In TLJ we can see the crystals of salt in red or rubi colors when the MF is scaping the Tie's. Maybe this is the closest you can get.

    Kyber City?(red)(green)(blue)(blue)

TLJ haters have a profound ability to bring up their hatred of TLJ in any Star Wars discussion. "I really like Padme's costume designs in Revenge of the Sith" "Yeah TLJ sucks."

    Like Naboo meets Crait.
With a new species of alien that's like a wookie but more lion-like who was banished from his homeworld for not being a fierce warrior.
    A naive female protagonist.
a simpleton droid from a bygone era in hopes of being useful again.
    And Michael Shannon.

Off to meet the only known force user in this part of space. he's treated as a deity

I think what we're really trying to get at here is that Johnson's trilogy should be a musical.

    Get Lin Manuel Miranda involved.
Find out if Michael Shannon can sing.
