One of my top wishes is the new trilogy be centered around the Force.

Perhaps it could be about the first Force users, long before the Jedi and the Sith.

The discovery of such a power would be amazing, liberating, awakening a new world of possibilities and potential dangers all at once.

It could pit old-world vs. new-world thinking, exciting part of a civilization while also causing others to denounce what might be dismissed as some demonic force (e.g. Salem Witch Trials).

Eventually there would be some to use it for good or not so good.

Light rising, and a Darkness to counter it.

    Some more ideas...

Perhaps a leader emerges to help "unify" the dissenting voices and preaches to both light and dark sides of the Force. That could be the "first order" of Snoke, when he went by another name.

Eventually a group of Force-sensitives grows suspicious of Snoke, who becomes increasing detached from their world as he turns his eyes upon the galaxy and begins to study the properties of Kyber crystals.

This group could be partly based on Yoda's species, some proto-Yodas who are not nearly as wise or as patient but certainly as powerful or even moreso than Yoda, and they for an alliance with other Force-sensitives to take down Snoke.

Snoke, however, has been hard at work designing new Kyber-powered weapons -- the first of the lightsabers, a dagger, a broadsword -- and formulating what would eventually go on to become the first Jedi and Sith orders.

He takes on a Sith name, Darth Primus (the Prime "Jedi" hinted at in The Last Jedi), and his Dark Side Force abilities grow exponentially as no one is yet able to counter him, not until the third part of this trilogy, when one or more heroes arise.

These new heroes predicate their usage of the Force on peace, justice, and defense, never attack, but, nevertheless they must remove the threat of Snoke.

Among Darth Primus' profound Dark Side abilities is the ability to control other peoples' minds, and he uses this to turn peaceful worlds on each other, as he does not yet have any army of his own. And perhaps he would not need one.

The heroes who penetrate Darth Primus' lair are not nearly as susceptible to his mind-control, especially as it is discovered to be linked to his manipulation of Kyber crystals and midi-cholorians.

The heroes are midi-chlorian-free and yet have ways to connect with the Force. Snoke does not anticipate this, and they are able, after a vast conflict, to capture Darth Primus.

Many want him destroyed, but the heroes stress the importance of conquering the Dark Side by not becoming part of it, practicing its methods.

And so, against the advice of many, they imprison Darth Primus and banish him to the Unknown Regions in a Kyber-shielded sphere for a millenium, but not without the most basic liquid sustenance, as it is understood DP is among the last of his species and can easily live a thousand-plus years.

It is hoped Darth Primus will come to see the errors of his ways and that he will, one day, re-emerge in the Light.

Hundreds of years pass, and eventually an expedition of early Jedi stumble across Darth Primus' prison. This group is lead by Yoda, who knows the history behind this.

Yoda converses with DP and believes he is no longer a danger to the galaxy and orders him to be freed.

Snoke agrees to become Yoda's padawan and hopes to help the Jedi and the Sith learn more about the Force so that, perhaps, one day, they can reunite as simply a group of Force-sensitives.

In a moment of irony, Snoke says to Yoda, as they depart, "By the grace of your training, I will never again be seduced by the Dark Side."

And it is Yoda who responds, "See, we shall. See, we shall."

    _______________________________________________

    Addendum / epilogue:

Later on, it is revealed, either through a Yoda "origin" Star Wars story film or comic or novel, that Yoda and Snoke part ways, eventually do battle, and Yoda defeats him on Dagobah.

Snoke, severely damaged, fakes his demise in the cave and then escapes to the Unknown Regions to bide his time.

From that distance, Snoke watches the rise of Palpatine from afar and "allows" him to lay the foundation for what one day would become Snoke's First Order.

Rather than contact Palpatine directly, Snoke makes another connection first, with someone he finds much in common: Darth Plagueis.

I'm not putting specific wishes for now but I have a few general hopes that I would like to share. :)

I hope this trilogy is grand in world building, storytelling and its themes, and take the best elements of the entire saga of what Star Wars is really about, and send that message across, reworked. The trilogy's goal is to answer "what's next? another war? why? why is he important? why is she important? why is this story worth telling?"

Exciting times ahead, and I absolutely can't wait!

I would like to see kid protagonists, 13 to 15 years old. Make the whole trilogy a coming of age story. If you get good actors it will work. No time skips to different older actors either just grow up with the kids. It would be a perfect trilogy for a new generation to grow up with Star Wars.

Watching the Solo ad and thinking about film in general made me want to add one more item to my wishlist. One of the coolest aspects of TLJ in terms of visuals is how important was colour red to the film. I'd like this new trilogy to continue the colour-coding theme, for each new film to have a colour that would define the whole film, similarly to Kieslowski's Three Colours trilogy.

In the Skywalker saga, we follow the strongest Jedi and Sith for hundreds if not thousands of years (Skywalkers, Yoda, Sidious, Rey). I would love to see a trilogy where our main character(s) are not the strongest. Following the story of a jedi with mediocre strength in the force and mediocre skill with the lightsaber, but seeing him/her through other values such as patience, perseverance etc eventually overcome and achieve victory.

Star Wars often has a moral message, this scenario would be a good message to those of us who aren't skilled at something, but that we can still accomplish many great things.

If not that, then a Snoke origins story, with Snoke played by Andy Serkis again.

I'd like to see a different kind of battle. Rather the the overarching story being about the evil Empire vs the brave Resistance, i'd like to perhaps see a "man vs nature" type of battle. I'd like the film to explore the origins of the GFFA itself and a potential impending disaster and the "impact" that has upon the galaxy. The main characters could perhaps be Jedi explorers who seek out ancient worlds and learn about the formation of the galaxy from ancient civilisations. They discover that "something" will soon happen that will destroy the GFFA and have to find a way to stop it. Alongside this, the "bad guys" could be some kind of "corporate entity" that ignores this potential disaster in order to foolishly safeguard their own assets. They then send people after the Jedi or perhaps rouse those who serve the Dark Side to keep the truth hidden?

Essentially, I'd like this trilogy to take a different form. Rather than being a flat out mythological tale it might be interesting to base it upon where myths actual derive from - natural events. All our myths, especially the religious stories, come from our early attempts to explain the universe and how we came to be (and where we are going). Lucas' Skywalker story replicates the hero journey story that along with the chosen one idea, reflects the history of man and our understanding of "the stars". I'm suggesting that Johnson might be able to create something different and worthwhile by basing his trilogy on where these hero stories come from.

People might be nervous about the scientific aspect, considering the whole midichlorians thing. But I think it could be done in a way that embraces both science and spirituality. Star Wars films should try and attempt to reflect the times in which they are made. At the time of the OT, the Cold War was the single most important event occurring in the world. The PT came into a more "grey" world, off the back off the rise of Islamic Extremism and so reflected the complex issues that the world faces. And the ST is a sort of continuation of that whilst perhaps going further. With Johnson's trilogy, rather than speaking of the rise and fall of civilisations based on war and division (as the Skywalker story has done), I think he should create an allegory based upon man's impending struggles with climate change and our role within that.

Oh yeah, and I also want lightsabers, Jedi, some Twi'lek dancers and a reference to Darth Plagueis the wise.

Some intriguing suggestions above. I see the fact that Johnson's been freed from any established characters and storylines as nothing but positive, hope to see a startlingly different take on a corner of the galaxy that won't necessarily piss off so many OT purists since it's a different set of worlds and hopefully different tech and species. I might shy away from the what the person says about kid protagonists, that's gone wrong too many times and I'd prefer not to emphasize a SW YA feel, but have nothing against a few younger characters in there. I also second the urge to see an alien character with some more importance to the plot. Humanoids have been hogging the major roles in the sequel trilogy, one thing RJ did brilliantly in the Last Jedi was take a detail from Legends/ the EU and expand on it in a new way, Luke's force projection, Yoda's spirit being able to interact with the world in certain ways. I'd be interested to see what Rick Heinrich did with this as production designer if allowed to start from scratch with new characters.

    My list:

    - A carefully planned out story that makes you want to speculate and offers a lot of moments that make me go "so that's why they did X in episode Y!"

    - No more Empire or Empire ripoff. I want eithher a widespread crime syndicate that rose to power after the FO and the New republic/Resistance tore each other to pieces or a dark forcecult/coven (if the trilogy is set in the past)

    - A female villain. I would love to see the seductive aspect of the dark side of the force in a literal sense which would allow for some interesting dynamics between the master and her apprentice. There are some great examples of seductive witches/sorceresses in Greek mythology which could potentially translate well into the unvierse of SW which has traditionally been inspired by various religious texts.

    - More alien main characters and a closer examination of their points of view. If James Cameron can do it than Disney can pull it off too.

    - Multiple approaches to understanding the force. Maybe through the lens of some tribal culture or a forceuser who has no knowledge of the teachings of the Sith and Jedi.

    - As little Rian Johnson as possible

This x 1000. The "First Order" to me is the 2nd lamest idea (behind Starkiller Base) in the ST. It should have been some new threat from the unknown regions and instead it's a poor man's Empire.
I don't think he plans on casting himself.

This would be like asking Wes Anderson to make his films as non-Andersoon as possible or Coen brothers to maketheir films un-Coen. If you get a director with a unique sensibility you don't try to hide it, you hire a different director. I love Star Wars, but I also love quirky auteurs and not letting them express their own style in a film, even if it's a part of a franchise, is counter-productive. You either accept a whole package or just choose another person. Besides, if you're not as into quirky auteur as I am, there's a whole series of films being created by Benioff & Weissman. :)

Ooh, Ooh! I have an idea! If they decide to not use an opening crawl in this trilogy, I believe that the best way to substitute it ould to do an opening credit sequence. Go either a Bond-esque route and do a series of graphics that represent the themes and story of the film, like in this lovely homage to Episode V:

Or go full retro and do a Saul Bass/ Maurice Binder style one and instead of graphics go with paper cutouts.

This way you're keeping the classical feel that a Star Wars opening as and you do something a bit more different.
