Not long after The Mandalorian concluded its incredible first season, Jon Favreau took to Twitter to confirm when in 2020 we can expect the second season to drop, along with what appears to be a pre-production sculpture of a familiar species.

This news should come as a relief to Star Wars fans because it's not always guaranteed the following season of a successful show will drop within a year of its preceding season's debut. Successful shows like Game of Thrones or Better Call Saul sometimes have their schedules shifted around or delayed to accommodate a number of factors, so it's great to know Favreau and team are hard at work and planning on a fall 2020 debut. Though there is no specificity on which month or date, it's reasonable to assume The Mandalorian will return in November. Not only that, we get a look at a potential Gamorrean appearance for season-two. Looks like Mando is still going to have his hands full with aggressive species trailing him and the Child.

Someone familiar with the situation informed us production is already halfway through filming the second season, so that should ease any concerns about potential delays. It will also give post-production ample time to get season two looking good, so get excited!

Lucasfilm Creative Art Manager and author Phil Szostak also chimed in about the Gamorrean sculpture Favreau casually dropped, informing fans the Tony McVey – an original trilogy veteran who originally worked on the Gamorreans – sculpted this piece. If season one wasn't proof enough, Favreau continuing to bring Lucasfilm veterans into The Mandalorian production continues to demonstrate his reverence for their work as Star Wars continues to move forward.

Make sure to check out our review of the final episode.

The future is bright for Star Wars!
