Jon Favreau to Write and Produce A Live Action Star Wars Series for Disney Streaming Service

Hard to say. Maybe he's had an idea in his back pocket for the last decade that's ready to go and just needs to put a team together. Maybe he's starting from scratch today and has no clue how to stitch it all.

 

I think when they say they brought Jon in to write that means he still has to do that. As nice as it is to think Jon has been sitting on a fleshed out Star Wars TV show for all these years that is not reality. The reality is this thing still needs a good bit of work done which is why they brought him on. Not to mention casting, hopefully set building, shooting, VFX probably for a minimum of 8 episodes if they go the shorter season higher budget route. That is a lot to ask of any team.

 

As long as it has something to do with Jedi and sith or other dark side users, and not just bounty hunters or something like that.. The old Republic would be Great ..

 

Just finding the silver lining. We know next to nothing about the current state of production. I'll assume the best for now. And if they run up against it, hopefully they'd opt to delay rather than distribute a lesser product. They control the platform after all.

 

Eh. I don't have streaming services anyway. And to be honest, Favreau is just another producer/director/writer dragged in to dump more Star Wars material on us. This news is not exactly mindblowing.

 

Please take place during the Jedi vs Sith wars... Please!

I hope it's a bounty hunter one.

 

The only thing I really want in this new series are characters that I can love. I want great villains, a rogue's gallery of side characters, protagonists that are relatable and endearing, droids, aliens, adventure, political intrigue, romance, moral lessons and lots of pew-pew and laser sword action.

 

So, you want this Star Wars show to somehow be like Star Wars. Hmm, bold take, but I think I like where your head is at on this

 

I can't wait to get more information on this show; best case scenario, it will be awesome!

I wonder what it will be about, though. Will we see events detailed in the Aftermath books touched on? (I sort of hope so, 'cause I can't manage to come to grips with Wendig's 1st person present tense writing). Furthermore, I wonder if LFL will try their hand at CGI-face versions of OT characters again. I'm not ashamed to admit I'd geek out bigtime over seeing young Luke, Han, & Leia out on adventures again, although... in all fairness, if they ever did CGI-face versions of these characters, it would probably be for small shots and background stuff. (Chewbacca, C3PO, and R2-D2 would, of course, be extremely easy to do, and if any big OT characters were to show up in the show, it might be these ones instead).

Or we could get something completely new, perhaps a "life on planet [enter name]" premise, like they did with Rebels.

In any case, it will be interesting to visit the end of OT timeline again and see what's going on after Episode 6.

Also, I'd love to see an alien protagonist, and have them play up their culture and background so as to see a fresh, non-human perspective on the galaxy.

Finally, I wonder if Mon Mothma/Genevieve O'Reilly again?

 

I'm so psyched for this show!
Since we now know that it's taking place between Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens, I wonder...
Will we see Luke?

 

A good Star Wars TV show is built on hope.
Hamill is a great actor, He deserves this. And it would be really great to see the beginning of the new temple. With his appearance for sure the show will increase the level of it

I'm really prepared to watch a SW episode/per week, in the calm of my sofa, and ejoying a space serial on my own.
Can't wait.

I Wonder, is de-aging Technology far enough advanced now that we can a 30-something Luke in the show? (I mean, played by Mark Hamill himself?)

 

In a strange sense I have a feeling this might be better than the saga films have been. Stay with me for a moment.

VII was fun. It was what was needed, but of course it wasn't the most original. VIII was, to say the least, divisive at best.

Yet, the cartoon series The Clone Wars and Rebels? I dare say more well received than episode VIII, at least amongst the hard core base. At first when they floated the idea of doing an Obi Wan film to be released on Disney streaming I thought it was a bad idea. Now? I think its a great one.

I just hope Jon doesn't go off the rails and try to reinvent Star Wars. That is not needed. What is needed is good writing, good stories. Good characters whom we can relate to. Ahsoka Tano??? Yes please! I love Ahsoka and would die to see her in a live action series. Bounty hunters? Could be awesome. But hopefully they will use this to start to fill in the gaps, although the Resistance cartoon will do that, so maybe set it a few years after ROTJ, just after the Aftermath series?

 

On the news today, I read that Sam L Jackson will be de-aged 25 years in the new Captain Marvel movie. What I found most interesting is that he will be present in the entire film, not just a one-minute cameo. I think the technology is already here... the only question is “will Lucasfilm be brave enough to use it?” CG innovation under George Lucas was frequent, but under this new era, I can only think of one instance where they innovated: Rogue One’s Tarkin and Leia.
I wish Lucasfilm can utilize their CG talent the same way Marvel films consistently use.

My ‘dream show’ would be Luke Skywalker’s adventures immediately following the Ewok celebration at Endor, with Luke being a de-aged Mark Hammill (or another actor with a CG Hamill face.)
