Junk science aside, the first two movies are pretty good, and so is "Jurassic World". No disrespect meant to Joe Johnston, but the third film greatly missed the mark.

The first one was awesome, I loved it. And I got to see the dinosaurs used in the movie at an exhibition. The roar of the T-Rex was terrifying, and you could even see it "breathing". The second movie was pretty good, the third...I don't remember much of it except for a velociraptor saying "Allan". And the last one...the woman was running in heels! In slow motion. And that was supposed to look cool. That movie is the reason why I'm glad C Trevorrow won't direct SW 9.
Oh and I love the novels. Fun and thought provoking, they're even more entertaining than the movies in some ways.

I wouldn't necessarily call it junk science. In the novels avian, reptilian, and amphibian DNA is used to fill in the blanks. They were never intended to be actual dinosaurs, and thus there are defects present within all the cloned species.

Early scripts for the Jurassic Park film actually had a version where the experts were brought onto the island in an effort to fix problems with them. One of them was the mosquito DNA had polluted the dinosaurs', resulting in brief lifespans.

They touch on it more in Jurassic World than any other film, about how they were never "real" dinosaurs but rather what they wanted dinosaurs to be or thought them to be. Repressing feather growth etc.

The one thing I liked most about JP3 and JW was their use of the left overs from Crichton's books. I hope they keep it up in Fallen Kingdom and use more of the ideas from the novel (give me that damn river chase!)

It isn't clear from the clip. It's possible they are building them to be a more highly intelligent species for future movies and the Rex remembers. But who knows right now.

Other things people seemed to not know:

In the books and 3rd film it is very well established that they were fudging DNA on dinosaurs long before Indominous and others. This is a theory about the Spinosaurus (which in reality would have been Vhlor smacked by even a juvenile TRex just based on their actual builds and what they ate. Supposedly it's a genetic mix of several things. The newly introduced Baryonyx being one. That sucker has been teased since the first book.

The T-Rex is attacking a Carntosaurus. Not a devil dinosaur or some weird hybrid like I've seen far too many videos and tweets claim.

In the books and 2nd film, it is established both Nublar and Sorna run on geothermal energy. Thus giving the reason for a volcano. I believe they were both supposed to be dormant.
