Just had a wild theory about Snoke's Star Destroyer/throne room...

For those of you who have not yet seen, today an image was leaked of a playset version of Snoke's SD.

One thing that instantly jumped out at me is the red tubes. And then it hit me:

Blood transfusions for Snoke? What if the reason he lives in a "mobile command post" (i.e. his SD) and has no permanent base on land, is because his ship functions as a sort of life support system? Perhaps he must plug in, to receive frequent blood transfusions? Darth Vader can travel wherever he wants as long as he has his suit, but if Snoke requires a vast quantity of blood, that's not exactly something that can be stored practically in a suit.

And it gets even better... Remember Snoke's throne room? The entire background of the room appears to be... red.

What if Snoke's throne room is situated amidst a giant blood tank? What if the red walls, are actually blood?

I always found it interesting that it was made quite clear that Snoke has no planetary base; if my theory is correct, my current thought process is that Snoke is free to move about the comforts of his own ship, where he can replenish his blood as needed. But he can't really go off wandering around on various worlds, because even if he wore a suit, it couldn't hold nearly enough blood for him. Thoughts?

EDIT: Also, note that the red wall is BEHIND the little grey stretch of wall that is behind Snoke's throne. These aren't red banners or anything (if so, it would be in *front*, hanging down); the wall is actually red. And there is no question anymore as to whether this is some sort of red "green screen"; look closely at the semicircle cutout at the top of the playset, where the throne is, and right behind Snoke's figure you can see the red. The whole throne room is encased in red. And the SD has red tubes running through it...

That's a very interesting theory but I really find it just a teeny bit hard to think that Disney would give us a giant blood filled chamber in SW. Awesome theory though!

Or maybe the first order is able to farm energy from the force itself, turning it into a fuel that is red in color. Who knows?

Thanks. And you're right, that may be a bit much for Disney; I've been thinking a bit more though and it's also possible it's not blood, but rather, whatever red mineral/substance is on Crait. We know that the third act takes place largely on Crait, and the First Order has a presence there, so who knows... The Resistance may end up figuring out that the First Order is mining/sending shipments of this stuff from Crait, to sustain Snoke.

Don't know if you guys are anime fans, but snoke reminds me of FATHER from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Very ancient, powerful figure pulling the strings behind the scenes. Powered by philosophers stones, and had pipes running through the city into the back of his throne, which then connected to his spine.

I would agree about the minerals. It looked like blood the first time I saw the trailer.

Interestingly, a similar idea was explored when Lucasfilm began working on Episode 7. They had an idea of the Jedi Killer (the main villain which later became Kylo) going into a meditation room and somehow absorbing energy from a sun. There's even some concept art:

The idea was that 'Kylo' was forced to sustain himself on sun matter (presumably to live). So it is an idea that has already been experimented with and could potentially show up in later films - whether it be blood, sun matter or anything else.

Yeah, going by the comcept art of TFA it's the early version of what would later become Kylo Ren. The villain went through some drafts (Jedi Assassin, Vader imposter etc) so it's hard to tell if the Kylo hugging Rey in this image is the same Kylo we know today (Ben Solo). But it does depict the main villain being fascinated over the heroine, an idea which from this looks like it was there from the early days.

    Hmmm...;)

More like Phantom of the Opera-type seduction. It's taken from this photoshoot, but my god that is a creepy design they had for him! Definitely not a Disney approved villain!

Makes Snoke look like a cherub in comparison.

Yeah, he does appear a lot creepier in the early work.

Oooo, where is that photo from?

Some photoshoot Adam did with a model. It was very romantic and funny haha it was used to create "Kylo" and "Rey" for SW.

    Also dear god again!! Kylo??

You know, Snoke needing to sustain his life is making a lot more sense now after seeing these pics.

The corollary to that (unfortunately) is that I doubt I will see Snoke engage in any magnificent acts of Force Usage since (it seems like) he's ship bound. Only way he and Luke face off (as I hoped would happen) is if they board the ship. And I don't see that happening (at least not in TLJ)

Yeah I am not seeing this guy becoming a CG Yoda with crazy ninja moves! I might die laughing if that happened.

Haha. I actually remember that one leaking around 2013/2014 I think. I remember seeing it and thinking 'God, the new villain is creepy!' I'm glad they went with what they did for Kylo in the end, it suits the type of character they're going for. If it was a different, 100% evil villain like Snoke it would've worked maybe. But Kylo doesn't strike me as that kind of villain.

I mean, Sidious was pretty old when he took out the Jedi in RoTS (and it looked TERRIBLE) so maybe not having Snoke CGI'ed into a "House of Flying Daggers" fight sequence is a blessing. Maybe he and Luke simply battle on the mental plan... all force battle.

Yeah they decided to make him the Disney Prince instead, and Snoke is now the ugly guy who will likely obsess over Rey in a non-romantic way.

@Rayjefury I could see a more powerful version of the interrogation scene, but with Luke and Snoke using their minds to battle.

Absolutely, and the surroundings should be damaged/destroyed during the process. I could definitely get on board with that.

Though I have to say, it would be nice to see Luke wield the LS one last time. Don't think he has much more screen time with melee battle in the future.

I don't know how they'd work it into the script except maybe Rey battles Kylo, gets overwhelmed and Luke has to step in and save her... but there's no reason he couldn't just do that utilizing the force as well.

    I guess we'll see.
