Thanks @Master Raze Golladio . Is it actually better to watch them in that order, or is that just chronological? Sometimes with TV shows / movies it is better to watch things 'out of order' if that is how it was intended for it to be seen (e.g. Memento, Lost). Currently near the end of S1...

I don't know, I honestly haven't tried watching it that way yet, but I know that I'd certainly like to at some point. I think it wa Leland Chee who posted it originally, and that man knows his stuff.

Has anyone else tried it that way yet?

Hey there, all it is is that it goes chronologically. I have watched it but serial and chronological order, and I find it has some more emotional impact and flow if watched in chronological. Most of the first two seasons were like that actually because of George Lucas's request to jump around the Clone Wars.

I have to recommend chronological order. It just feels more cohesive.

The Clone Wars prequel movie is like Adventures in Babysitting with added Hutts. Only serves to introduce Ahsoka really which they could've done in the first episode anyway.

I tried watching TCW a couple years ago but couldn't get into it. After seeing (and loving) Rebels, I decided to give it another go. I found a list on Reddit that leaves out the "fluff" episodes. It also lists them in chronological order. I'm on season 4 and am satisfied with this list. Here's the link:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/2xbfm9/essential_clone_wars_episodesarcs/

    And here's the list:
    Season 1
    1. 3x01 Clone Cadets
    2. 2x16 Cat and Mouse
    3. 1x16 The Hidden Enemy
    4. The Clone Wars Movie (ONLY the first ~25-30 minutes, to introduce Ahsoka and wrap up the Christophsis arc)
    5. 1x05 Rookies
    6. 1x09 Cloak of Darkness
    7. 1x10 Lair of Grievous
    8. 1x13 Jedi Crash

    10. 1x19 Storm Over Ryloth
    11. 1x20 Innocents of Ryloth
    12. 1x21 Liberty on Ryloth
(Left out "Malevolence" arc to avoid Anakin meeting Grievous, which contradicts dialogue in ROTS, but it's not a bad arc)

    Season 2
    1. 2x01 Holocron Heist
    2. 2x02 Cargo of Doom
    3. 2x03 Children of the Force

There are a lot of good episodes left out of that list. You should just watch them all. Also, they made sure Anakin and Grievous never actually met in The Clone Wars. There are many episodes with them both in it, but they never actually see each other face to face.

Just watching all the episodes and its much better than I thought it would be (when it first came out I was reluctant not sure why) but I cant help to feel a bit sad cause of the events at the end of the third movie with all the Jedi being executed basically :|

Just now got around to it in order to fill the void until TFA. Started a couple days ago and already 32 episodes into it. Watching chronologically. Can't believe I didn't watch it sooner. It's not perfect but it's damn better than the prequels.

Personally, I see this show as a mixed bag. There were episodes that had great concepts but with terrible executions. And there were episodes that had stupid ideas but payed off fantastically. And then there were episodes that are just darn silly.

However, the show's greatest strength is when they center around the clones. They showed soooo much personality in this series to the point you feel sorry when some of them meet their demise. If you haven't seen the show yet, I recommend watching the episode "Darkness on Umbara" first. The philosophy of the clones is greatly explored here and it also puts the War in Star Wars. ;)

Watch Season 6, and then read the Son of Dathomir comic and Dark Disciple Novel, and then look up Clone Wars legacy for canon, "unfinished and unreleased" episodes, meaning these things they almost finished really are considered to have happened.

His animation just isn't very good...but I wonder if we will get to see him in "Rebels" at some point .

Before I start to read all of the posts in this section - to avoid spoilers - I just want to ask if TCW are any good? I've once tried to get into it, but it just didn't hit me. I've been watching Rebels though, which I think is pretty awesome. Will TCW get better after season 1?

It gets better after one, and way better after 2. 3-5 are totally worth it.

6 as well, and the unfinished animation canon episodes, and the novels and comic books they released under "Clone Wars Legacy"

I did like 6, much more than 2 or 1 for sure, but for me it wasn't quite as good as 3-5. Also, the unfinished episodes really are great, as is the Darth Maul comic. I'm maybe halfway through the Dark Disciple book, and its taking me a long time. Definitely not my favorite clone wars story.

Really? I loved it, but It would be great as a graphic novel, I'm sure. I'm also biased in that I love Ventress, so that may be why, but its gotten nice reviews :)
