    Just something to ponder....

Is it possible that Kylo Ren is a clone of Anakin as part the Emperor's contingency plan? I realise it is far fetched but hear me out for a moment.

This also begs the question of who actually sought out Vader's helmet. So on the flip side, perhaps the one responsible was also the one in charge of ordering the clone. The passage of time fits pretty well.

The clone could then be raised/brainwashed into thinking he was the son of the great Darth Vader who was mercilessly killed at the hands of the Rebellion and the Jedi, further explaining his supposed obsession with Vader. The idea loosely supports one detail that we have heard in that Ren believe's his actions are in the right, which could stem from being raised with a skewed version of History.

Just throwing that out there. Curious to see how the idea can be expanded upon.

    Welcome to the Cantina!

That's definitely not a theory I'd heard before. It's always fun when someone brings something new to the table. I tend to agree, though, that the looks are problematic if he was a clone. And I wonder who would have raised him?

Please dear god no clones, I've actually heard something similar before. Same with Gleeson is a Palpatine clone which I think people have heard more of

Also does this really need to be independent of "Who is Kylo Ren?"

Welcome to the Cantina! I'm going to have to agree on with the "no clones" movement, but your idea was certainly interesting!

Well, in movies, you have actors that play characters and Star Wars is a movie as well as a cartoon. Sometimes, certain actors start out as a lead character and for any number of reasons cannot continue to be that character down the line. For better or for worse, recasting happens all the time. In this instance, it would be for better, not to mention much easier to conceal this info from leaking. If you use your imagination, you can see how much better Adam Driver actually fits the character of Anakin. Why does Anakin look so different in animated form? Why does his look change so much from the cell animated Clone Wars to the CGI Clone Wars? Why does Anakin's character actually have depth in the Clone Wars but not in the Films?

Because it's animated and stylized. What is it that you find "juvenile?"

The reason he looks so different in cartoons is that each artist stylizes things a little different. Your point about recasting is fair, but why wouldn't they at least dye his hair?

Use the Falchion, Thanks for the welcome. It's just an idea after all.

Bluestreaking , I am new to forum and have not gone through the entire log of entries so apologies if there is a redundancy. Still, I wouldn't rule clones out of the equation just yet. That plot device worked well in the Force Unleashed game series.

Exactly! You answered your own question right there. JJA is most certainly aware of what was lacking in the previous incarnation of Anakin. In the Clone Wars, I believe they were trying desperately to rescue Anakin from Lucas' major blunder in the Films. I feel they did just that.

If in fact this idea held any truth, then it would be wise to alter the character enough that no one would see it coming. Having black hair is also symbolic in storytelling with regard to the persona of the character. It may or may not be natural hair colour but we do know that he wears ONLY black. Maybe it's a requirement of the Knights of Ren. Who knows? I hope that clears up where I am coming from.

I would find an unknown child of Vader more believable... notwithstanding the obvious lava trauma, ahem... down there.:(

If the Emperor had a clone of Anakin, then why bother with Darth Vader? He could have left Anakin to die and just used his clone instead of operating on him and putting him inside that suit.(dark)

Given the age of driver, the clone wouldn't be made until after Vader was in a suit, and not the snazzy 3 piece variety.

Good question. Getting someone else to do your dirty work is always a plus if you are Palpatine, no? Palpatine was the mastermind in his ascent to power and having a goon like Vader around is going to pay off in great dividends. If we are to believe that Palpatine was as powerful as some say, then it is not a stretch to say that he has abilities to use host bodies as explored in the Dark Empire comic series. Yes, I realise it is no longer canon but it is worth noting.
