Kenobi Predictions!

My brain is still reeling from @The Hero With No Fear ’s incredible post above. Love all of those speculations.

@The Hero With No Fear How about the score? Will we get a “new” OWK theme from jW?

On an administrivia note , is the official cantina acronym for this show now “OWK”?

After seeing how Book of Boba Fett was willing to follow other characters for several episodes, here’s a new Kenobi prediction:

We will have at least one episode where Vader is the main character, and perhaps Kenobi doesn’t even show up.

 

come on @Trevor you old aircraft mechanic , I know you would love to tinker on an old pod racer (as would I!!!)

 

To me, the most encouraging aspect of O-WK is that it is directed by Deborah Chow. She did a great directing job on The Mandalorian and reportedly said her work on Mando was the best preparation she could have had for O-WK, thanks to learning from Favreau and Filoni.

Given how fans have embraced The Mandalorian, there is some worry that it might become 'a Mando Clone' the same way TFA was 'a ANH Clone' (Big Money doesn't like to deviate from a format that's working.) In fact the word was that the first set of scripts for the series did exactly that featuring a quazi-Mando-Grogu relationship between OB1 and a young Leia. But apparently KK had the scripts rewritten for that very reason back in 2020.

 

Hey @Trevor this scene from TBOBF is an aircraft maintainer's HEAVEN.....this is basically how the building I work in looks like every day (although instead of Naboo starfighters we are rebuilding KC-135 aircraft....)

 

My predictions and I try to keep them grounded.
I have some Jedi Fallen Order vibes expecting from this story, though based on what we already got, on small budgeted level.

What I wanna and think we will see:
- Obi-Wan leaves Tatooine either to help a friend (Bail Organa?) or because he senses that his presence there will alert sinister forces towards Luke.
- He departs to solve the issues and clean his tracks after himself.
- Probably fakes death or dissapears in a way, that is convicing to Empire or Vader and returns back to the spot, we find him at in Episode IV.
- Inquisitors! And I really hope not just one and having Grand Inquisitor in live action would be awesome!
- Fingers crossed for Qui Gon, either as a disembodied voice that is not sampled from movies or full blown force vision.
- Yoda giving advice in some form.
- Young Leia? That would tie with my prediction of seeing Bail
- Young Luke.

What we probably won't see:
- The rematch with Darth Maul in live action - I would love too, as I loved it in Rebels but I hope that outside of Bad Batch retconning comic book story with Kanan, they will keep the shows on same canon level, no matter if live or animated, so what we see in motion, is canon (as Ahsoka, Bo-Katan and stories in Mandalorian and Fett play out as sequels to stories that already came in such format).
- Palpatine. I think that maybe, we might get his voice ala Rebels season 1 played by Sam Witwer or Ian McDiarmid, but I think he will stay behind the scenes and out of the small story scope.
- I don't think that we will see Fett, Din, Ahsoka or any other characters from shows, not even Cad Bane, as that would be interesting but if the rumours and concept art are true, there will be spotlight on Inquisitors.

 

That's my guess. While I like the idea of OB1 rescuing a 10-year old Leia, I hope the scripts avoid the natural temptation to have the two mimic Din and Grogu's relationship.

While it was just a rumor, the word "on the interwebs" was that production was initially stalled because Kathleen Kennedy ordered the original scripts to be rewritten for just this reason.

 

I think Force Ghost can only physically manifest on special planets, perhaps planets with Kyber crystal cores? Like Ach-too, Dagobah etc…

I also think all that Kyber on the Deathstar helped Palpatine survive.

xogull may have Kyber Core and may save Kyle and Palpatine for another day.

 

Eh, we saw Obi-Wan’s ghost on Hoth in ESB. Plus seeing the ghosts on Endor at the end of ROTJ and seeing Luke and Leia on Tatooine at the end of the ST.

 

My take has always been that Force Ghosts haunts not places but people; they are, sort of like memories, something that stays with the people who needs the mentoring to keep going. So, (in my head-canon version), we won't ever have a Force Ghost adventure where some dead Jedi with the right knowledge interacts with a/the world in any major way - they're just there to have discussions with main characters in need of exposition, or whatever. *shrug*

 

I have high expectations for Kenobi. I am very hopeful and believe this show will be gorgeous.

What I'd like to see in this show.
‣ Inquisitors. If I'm correct Kenobi's show will reportedly have him fighting at least one Inquisitor? I'm hopeful for the Grand Inquisitor. With as much skill as Kenobi has, the Grand Inquisitor is the only opponent of the 12 I can see who could keep up with his years of war experience, even being rusty.
‣ Vader. Since Kenobi will take place 10 years after the Revenge of The Sith, I'd love to see some of the conflicts that Vader has within himself maybe via old memories? Also, since The Book of Boba Fett had 2 episodes dedicated to side characters could we also see what with Vader or a young Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa?
‣Flashbacks of Vader and Obi-Wan fight on Mustafar.
‣ Maybe some scenes dedicated to Palpatine.
‣ Darth Maul and what he was up to after the Seige of Mandalore. I understand around 10 BBY he was on Dathomir, leading the Crimson Dawn criminal syndicate.
‣ OB1 vs Vader.

 

But...

 

I don't understand? Luke is "haunting" Rey here, right? (Or Ahch-to). He's not adventuring around playing Ghost-Jesus to the galaxy? My point was that Force Ghosts seem (to me) to be attached to the individuals (or possibly locations) that they are ment to mentor/watch over, and not that they're free agents cavorting around doing adventures and stuff?

 

Well I just think pulling an x-wing out of the water is much more than mentoring and pretty much interacting with the real world.

 

Sure. But do you see a scenario where Ghost-Luke goes on an adventure across the galaxy? Hunting Sith-lings or whatever? I don't. My point was that Force Ghosts seem to play a helping role to other characters.
