Kevin Smith is confident that they will show a new trailer or actual movie footage come tomorrow. He also said that they have shown footage to European distributors.

So tomorrow we are in for something special hopefully. Maybe they launched a new Star Wars app before SDCC so we get whatever they show at Comic Con on the app?? I don't know just pure speculation.

i love kevin smith, he is a great entertainer (people should go watch his presentation/comments on the Superman movie he was working on), however in this case, i think he is just overly excited.

He literally says "i can't guarantee you, because i don't know anything" LOL :D

he's just really excited for star wars but there is probably nothing in his comments.

If they showed footage to europe distributors then there is obviously some marketing reason for it, i don't think that has anything to do with Comic Con as he seems to be suggesting

I could spot that out BUT what about him saying that they have shown footage to European distributors?? Do you think he is lying or telling the truth?

I just edited my comment above as you replied sorry about that :D, however i'll just add one here, i think its very possible that european distributors saw footage, but IMO, that has probably more to do with later marketing than it would do with Comic Con, as he is suggesting

Hopefully something leaks out about the footage that they showed to the European distributors!! I wonder what they have shown them though? Was it a trailer or movie footage? Only time will tell.

They made him sign a non-disclosure document, off course they did, he bets 10,000 dollars a trailer will be revealed today, he want a walkabout on the millennium falcon, crazy find.

Ouch, see this will only fuel the nerd range if a trailer doesn't show up. Sorry I always go to the Cassandra scenario, apologies. :)

I love how Kevin Smith talks about Star Wars, he gets it. I hope he's right. Tomorrow will be fun either way.

No one remembers the 10 minutes of footage descriptions from 2 different posters? I think it was on reddit.

This is what was shown at the CineEurope convention and trade show late last month: nothing new according to THR.

I am a huge fan of Kevin Smith's movies, and I always love his little nods to SW in each movie, but fanboys like him in Hollywood are usually the one's are the most disappointed because they constantly talk about how this will bring them back to their childhood when they see some promo for a SW movie.

Don't get me wrong, I am just as excited for TFA as anyone here, but I am roughly the same age as most of the Hollywood SW nerds (Kevin Smith, David Spade, Seth Green, Patton Oswalt, etc) and there is no way this movie will bring those same emotions I had as a 10 year old in that movie theater back in the early 80's. I respect their passion, and trust me I get caught up in the hype every once in a while for these movies, but when I take a step back and look at the whole picture, it just won't be the same, and these guys are setting themselves up for a letdown again if they think their inner child will be released.

I still think the movie could be great and enjoyable, but the one thing I will not do is think that I will have that same feeling I did walking out of SW in 77, ESB in 80 and ROTJ in 83, and sometimes these guys get too much caught up in that magical time.

I'm not so lucky. Born in 95 so my first exposure to Star Wars was The Phantom Menace (which is amazing seeing as my Dad grew up with the OT). I know this is an unpopular opinion, but TPM absolutely blew me away when I saw it aged 4. I entered via the Prequels, only seeing the OT on television in June 2003. In this way I came to appreciate the OT in a different way to those who grew up with it (SW is the film I've seen more than any other, so I caught up eventually). So I never got the big impact that some of you guys got in 77-83 (although TPM was as big as anything could be to a four-year-old). With TFA, I'm not so much looking for a validation of my childhood or anything of the sort, give me Luke Skywalker hacking at motherf***ers and Han Solo cooking some fools and I'll be satisfied. If the new characters kick ass (I know so little about Poe at this point but for some reason I already think he's a boss) then let them come forth and do so.

I enjoy most of Kevin Smith's films as well, and am glad that we share the love of the Star Wars saga. It's just his opinions of the PT and willingness to share those opinions a little too loudly that make me tend to dislike him.

    Disagree.

In order to appreciate fantasy films you have to suspend your disbelief and rediscover your heart as a child. They require a sense of wonder.

Never understood this idea that some people can enjoy a film through disposition alone, rather than the objective quality of the film. If reduced expectations is the only way I can enjoy a film, I want no part of the film.

I'll take as much nostalgia as I want to the theater thank you and it won't diminish my ability to appreciate good art one iota.

I see what you're saying but the problem is the more movies you make in a franchise, the more chance of them losing that magic from the original, or maybe the first sequel. No TV show or Movie Franchise can stay great forever, as somewhere its going to get stale or its going to get redundant.

I think some people forget this sometimes when it comes to these summer blockbusters, as most of them are 'been there done that' storylines with new characters. Were on the 7th movie of this franchise, how original do you think they can get? We are going to see lightsaber fights, space battles, force powers, stormtroopers, possibly someone turning to the darkside, etc. The only difference is its going to be repackaged with mostly new characters. When you see Star Wars for the first time, you are seeing things you never saw before in movies, and that is what I am mean by the magic you will never experience again. Even in ESB, when the falcon is going through that asteroid field or Yoda lifting that XWing fighter is something that was never put on screen before, so it has an impact on you that is hard to duplicate

Again, I am as hyped as everyone for this movie because I LOVE all of those things I have named above, but its going to be tough to wow you like it did in 1977 or 1980 or even 1983 because its the natural course for any successful franchise.
