    @JediMasterRobert

Like said, the point seems to be the set.
The sight itself of it, should be mind blowing.

Therefore I’d exclude your second list.
All those possible finale scenes, need “context”.

But all the things in your first list, are - imo - good guesses.

I love Kevin Smith, and Star Wars of course. I have no doubt JJ has something special planned for this finale, but Kevin Smith does have a habit of saying more than he should at times. Maybe JJ kept him from looking at that set just so he didn't accidentally spoil it with his abundant enthusiasm. Not doubting that it's something significant to be seen, just that there was a larger reason for JJ to dissuade him from entering that set.

What if the ending isn't mind-blowing, to you? Will you HATE the film? You guys will be waiting 5 months for this mind-blowing ending... you're setting yourselves up for disappointment. I mean I love to speculate but this is Kevin Smith aka Silent Bob for chrissakes... haha. First thing after the film I'll be returning to this thread. Yet, I really hope its mind-blowing because allot of fans will spew HATE if it isn't... and I'm tired of all the HATE. Have a great day my fellow fans.

Exactly, people need to suggesting set ideas only and not plot/dialogue stuff.

For me, it has to be an iconic set which connects to A New Hope or The Phantom Menace. That leaves:

    Lars Homestead
    Yavin Throne Room
    Yavin Exterior
    Mos Eisley Cantina
    Theed (unlikely)

Or... The Jedi Temple on Coruscant (with statues of everyone from Luke to Qui Gon)

To hazard a guess, imagine that Plagueis/Palpatine/Snoke has the ability to take over new host bodies once the previous dies, connecting all three trilogies. Since they cannot kill him, they are only able to stop him by freezing him in carbonite -- a suspended state that doesn't allow him to transfer his consciousness. This would be part of a set, and communicate an awful lot.

To take it a step further, imagine he could only be held in the carbonite chamber long enough to freeze because he was locked in a lightsaber duel with either Rey or Kylo. The two would be frozen in perpetual battle, but the force would be balanced. And the carbonite block would be a visual representation of that balance. It could be more-or-less a tombstone to Rey or Kylo, set in front of a funeral -- perhaps within a new Jedi temple being built around it.

This ends the trilogy of trilogies, yet also leaves the universe open to continuing if Disney ever desired...

I originally said that the location had to be instantly recognizable...but Kraum and BDW have me thinking that it could be a set full of either statues or carbonite blocks. Where the display is wouldn't be as important as what the display consisted of.

Kevin Smith is full of blast. It's like trying to get George Lucas to say the prequels aren't very good.

It’s a second bigger and even more powerful Starkiller Base that’s still under construction.

We agree about the idea that it has to be set, but ...

    Same here.

First of all, what Kevin Smith has been told (and I have 0 reasons to believe he wasn't) comes from the prospective of JJ and of the people that worked on ep. IX.
It's their opionion. And they believe/wish to have done something mindblowing.
So, yes. This finale set/location can be something that fan can recognize at first glance and to whom there's an emotional connection, or it might be something totally anew we don't expect at all to see, we have never seen before. In the latter case, most likely, something particularly big/ visually "epic".
And of course, at the end of the day, it may work or not.

Ok if it’s the set or location it’s gotta be something recognisable and something the general audience will get too . Maybe it is an earth location and we find out this happened here and like in John Carter our heroes ( whoever is left ) look up to the sky and see the sun and the moon .
I was going to go for mortis as the ending with kylo and Rey as the son and daughter and Luke as the father balancing the force forever but it’s not recognisable enough for a general audience( although it would melt minds ).
The other thing they could do to melt minds and have people recognise the location is to cross franchises with say marvel and have Star Wars be part of that universe . With the multiverse anything is possible I guess. I’ve often wondered why Loki for instance called himself Skywalker. I know George was influenced by the Norse god as Loki is god of fatherhood and stories as well as magic, sorcery & trickery as well as the underworld so maybe he got the idea of Skywalker from one of Loki’s names Lol! Moreover kylo’s name is an anagram of a variant of Loki and TROS is code named trixie ( a name that Loki again uses. Could be none of these things of course ... ;);):p I do remember though Richard E Grant saying the twists and revelations in TROS are earth shattering and we would be talking about them for years to come .Whatever it is its huge . Very late on this. Of course as mentioned many times over in the thread already, Kevin Smith is the best hype man in the biz. That said, I still look forward to what he says regarding Star Wars just because... well it's about Star Wars. He's given us two little nuggets of info for TROS, this, and saying that someone gives a career defining performance. That's intriguing to me because it does provide some context, it's just a bit more specific than the typical, "Oh yeah, it's great, what they're doing over there is... it's fantastic man, really fantastic".

Now, this isn't really easy to answer considering we don't know what happens but from the interview I got the impression that you don't really need to know what happens to still have your mind melted from the final shot. With that info, this is what I've come up with:

    Nothing. I have no guesses.

On the latest MSW podcast Jason states that although he does not no what the last scene is, he knows people who do and they seem confused by Smith’s comment. It appears that This May be another case of Smith over exuberance

For me Disney won’t take any chances after TLJ,they will definitely wrap up the Skywalker saga with the falcon outside the Lars homestead or old man Kenobis residence on Tattoine,Rey will be accompanied by Chewie,Finn,Poe and the droids. Cue the force ghosts, one by one every major player will show up. Rey will be confirmed as a Skywalker. Something will happen during the film that allows non force sensitive peeps to become force ghosts, man babies will lose their blast over that no doubt, thus giving us the reunion of Han,Luke and Leia on screen together since the original trilogy. Ben solo and gramps hugging it out,obi wan and qui-gon,yoda and no doubt Samuel l Jackson walking up like he did at the end of Avengers Endgame and smirk not saying a word.
