The big news this week for the "I'm mad about Star Wars" community was a dead link. Kiri Hart's bio on the Lucasfilm website can no longer be found. There could be any number of reasons why this is possible, but that didn't stop a hoard of YouTube videos about it.

    So what has changed?

It's difficult to say. Changes inside the story group haven't really been announced by Lucasfilm. It's not like investors really care. A Twitter user a few weeks ago noticed that Pablo Hidalgo's title has changed and congratulated him a promotion, but it wasn't announced.

Speaking of Hidalgo he's been spammed with questions about Kiri Hart this week, but this is all he's had to say on the subject.

This is a good example of how the YouTube outrage culture works. There's nothing really here to report. We have a change on a website and nothing else to go on, but the video creators are desperate for content to monetize the outrage.

All this political outrage garbage in the world, Star Wars was my escape. We don't need to drag it into Star Wars too.

You understand that there are politics in Star Wars right? Unless you're being sarcastic.

I'm not talking about in-story politics. I'm talking about real-world Star Wars conversations becoming as toxic and outrage-filled as real world political discussions.

Lucasfilm was apparently quietly reorganized in the last year or so:

Compare this last snapshot available from April 2018

    http://web.archive.org/web/20180411140951/http://www.lucasfilm.com/our-team

    To now

    https://www.lucasfilm.com/who-we-are/leadership-team/

Not all the new names on the website are new to Lucasfilm.

For example, Waugh's profile used to say until recently he was VP of the Lucasfilm Story Group and that reference has been removed.

On June 18, 2018, is also when they opened up a YouTube channel for recruiting:

The story group was put together by Hart/Kennedy back in 2012. After 7 years I'm surprised there hasn't been more changes. Looks like Carrie Beck is in charge of the animated and TV series and Stephen Feder is handling the film side. How much control they have is anyone's guess.

My guess is that they likely work with the directors & writers for each to make sure nothing is contradicting existing material. Otherwise they're more in an advisory role than a role of any real authority and letting those directors & writers create whatever story they want to (provided their pitch gets the green light from the higher ups in Lucasfilm of course).

Looks like we've got our answer about Kiri Hart...

Dan Lin’s production company, Rideback, and Media Rights Capital (MRC) have partnered to launch the Rideback TV Incubator.

The incubator offers a paid, eight-month residency program to a group of eight writers who have each previously been staffed on series and want to create their own drama series for cable and streaming. The goal of the new venture is to support experienced TV drama writers from diverse backgrounds who are on the cusp of advancing their careers.

    ...

Kiri Hart, who established the Lucasfilm Story Group overseeing “Star Wars” development and now acts as a consultant for Lucasfilm, will serve as creative advisor.

Doesn't sound like she was fired or demoted and she's probably making more money.

Ah, there's the conspiracy theory we all know and love! The desperation to score outrage points from stuff like this is embarrassing.
It really is amazing. Congrats to Kiri Hart though. She's done a great job and I hope she's on to bigger and better things. Plus, she's still helping at Lucasfilm. Seems like the perfect situation.

Hart's contract renewal may have had the same timing as Kennedy's, with Kennedy's renewed and Hart's not. So she got a job elsewhere.

So... Remind me why she was supposedly in-line to take Kathleen Kennedy's job, then? If Lucasfilm wanted her to take over so much, then why leave?

Something was up with that report, it seems.

You may have missed the part in my post where I stated that she took a role at another company. It never ceases to amaze me how people steadfastly refuse to acknowledge the obvious.

She has committed no crimes that I am aware of. She did, however, do a terrible job as story group lead so this is wonderful news for Star Wars fans.
Whuh huh? "Doesn't sound like she was fired or demoted"? You have got to be kidding.

She went from Senior VP to part time consultant (and even that is doubtlessly a throwaway line where she won't actually be giving any input). She was called the Kevin Feige of Star Wars and seen by many as Kathleen Kennedy's heir apparent and now no longer even exists at LFL. That's the textbook definition of being fired. And if you think she's making more money as a "creative consultant" at a startup company designed to help writers break into TV than she was making as a Senior VP at Lucasfilm, you're just kidding yourself.

First you told us this was nothing more than a broken link on a webpage. Now you're trying to spin it into some major upward corporate move. It is ridiculously obvious that she was fired in all but name, and was no doubt given a hefty severance package in exchange for all sorts of non-disclosure agreements.

This is wonderful, wonderful news for Star Wars fans.
    --- Double Post Merged, Feb 8, 2019 ---
Why do you call it a conspiracy theory? It is pretty interesting that 3 people who were all fired by LFL are all now working together at a new venture.

Hey I wish them all the luck in the world. She can no longer continue to damage Star Wars so I don't care in the slightest what she has moved on to. (She will be doing about as much "consulting" at LFL as I will so please don't be fooled by that throwaway line)

...or how they like to put a bow on their assumptions and present it as a gift to the population.

Kiri's new position is "Creative Advisor" for Rideback which doesn't sound too different from "Consultant" at LFL...and frankly sounds like a part-time job, and nothing near her prior full time gig at LFL. To me it seems obvious that she's downshifted from her previous position by her own accord.

I am not being confrontational just this is legit the first time I have heard this level of grievance against someone I barely have any knowledge of? So what is her major flaw in her time at Lucasfilm?

    Update
Did a quick Youtube search of Kiri Hart to get some perspective. Watched a couple of interviews. I was startled with my findings not because of anything she did or said but the mob that seems to have also Youtubed Kiri Hart but with a lot more malicious intent. Those people seem to downvote every video she has done and leave a comment very similar to this one on every video.

"These EDITED right there ladies and gentleman... Will be responsible if any of the awesome characters and stories we know ( Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Jacen, Jaina, Thrawn, Yuuzhan Vong etc. ) are left out of the upcoming movies."

If her big "mistake" was being involved with dusting the EU then I have no problem with Kiri Hart. If there is something else that I am unaware of I am very open to hearing it.

What makes you think it was of her own accord? People don't shift from Senior VP at a leading Movie Studio to Part-Time Creative Advisor at another much smaller company of their own accord. It just doesn't happen.

I don't know if you follow football but here's an analogy: It would be like she went from Offensive Coordinator of the New England Patriots to ball girl in Cleveland. It's just not a move someone would make voluntarily.

You have no idea what her motivations are. So you simply go to what makes you happiest which is she must have been fired. I really wonder why you hate on someone so much. As I understand it the incubator is working on bringing more diversity in writing to hollywood. Maybe that is something that really appeals to Kari Hart.

But...it is, and yes it does happen, especially if she can afford to...

Case in point: I worked in the aviation industry for over 25 years and it was VERY well paying. Three years ago, I was recruited into an engineering job in another industry that ensured that I was home for dinner every night AND paid less than I'd made at the highest paying point in my aviation career.

The lure, was that I got to sleep in my own bed every night...I didn't have to travel for weeks on end...I got to make my own hours...and all because I invested wisely and could afford it. I did that by my own accord, and SURELY didn't make as much money as she did.

See, It DOES happen, but maybe not in your world.

Keep in mind; People don't get up every morning to work their entire lives without ever enjoying it...perhaps she knows that...and now perhaps you do to.

There is nothing "obvious" about something that you have no idea of...
