Without too much gobbledygook, over the last few months I decided to take on a personal project.

It all started when I bought Kotor from the Android playstore and was determined to replay the game reliving the experience.

I wanted to be enthralled, I wanted fresh newness, a new facelift or plastic surgery to an old game.

Thus, I began long hours of compiling endless mods into one package for an ultimate mod, calling it Kotor Remastered.

Everything has been redone, HD textures, camera fov, weapon models.... anything to draw into a more classic SW feel.

So far this mod, which is actually a collection of mods with extensive playthrough testing, is easily 9 gigs.

Now, none of this is my work, the actual mods. My work has been compiling, testing, and compatibility testing. This involves many saves and alot of time, detracting from actually playing the game.

I am *almost* finished. I have tried my best to avoid altering the game too heavily story wise. I have included small changes, such as more merchants, which do not detract from the flow of the game. That said, I did inckude some items which are clearly OP to be used at personal discretion.

I take no credit for any of the mods and give righs to respective authors and will reserve a right for authors to withdraw their work (although I serioudly doubt any will considering their work was good enough to make it in the first place). Some of these authors may not even be reachable at this point.

But anyway, I plan on making this mod available to the general public. Thus you can avoid the long hours I put into compiling this and just download and enjoy a fresh reboot of Kotor.

Here are alot of screenshots of my WIP so you can get an idea of scope.

When are you roughly going to be releasing this collection of mods into a modpack for the general public? I would totally up for testing etc.

It's funny you asked that because I was playtesting Tatooine tonight.... I have been at this months.... sorting out mods thst don't work and compatibility. I would say I am in beta stage of completion.

Here is a screenie from Tattooine. Trying to decide if I want to apply a complete texture overhaul OR keep the HD upgraded stock version.

    Screenshot_2018-03-29-20-25-42.png

I won't lie. This mod is looking fantastic visually. I was stunned myself after compiling HD mods together how far it actually changed the game. Adding new armors and items as well added a new level of complexity and playtime. Basically you can customize even more characters and have a fully functional team, there will be no weak companions.

Nobody ever made a complete overhaul of Kotor. It was all individual modders, adding armors, changing textures.... the amount of man hours going into this mod is staggering, considering how complex and detailed the authors were and the time they took, and then compiling everything.

I am stunned visually, and hope to complete this very very soon. Really it is in a way, a brand new game, a new experience, it is experiencing Revan and Bastila as they should have been, being drawn into the graphics and story.

Vanilla Kotor pales in comparison. Anyone can actually do what I am doing, if you are prepared to take the long hours of downloading, extracting, testing, playthroughs in certain areas. Multiple saves are required because some content only arrives at certain modules.

Ok, my version, Kotor Remastered, is pure SW.

By that I mean, if it doesn't feel SW it doesn't go into the mod. For example, someone modded the wookies and made them purple, green, various colors. Another user years ago updated them to HD (I have yet to apply this mod cannot remember exactly why).

But you see what I mean. This takes a long time to do. I am compiling YEARS worth of work, sorting, deleting, testing...... countless hours of editing are applied in a few moments, but then my job comes into full swing.

But yes, I have a pre beta version. It is what I am playtesting. Updating and changing as I go. My goal is to draw you deep into a masterful SW universe to explore the story of Revan from fresh eyes, with fresh content. Small changes are added here and there, additions, if a big change it MUST be appropriate to the SW "feel".

So soon... I hope very soon to release this as completed. I have been at this months in my spare time. I can't wait and feel as you do, because playtesting has made me go deep into a galaxy far far away drawn away from *this* and that is the goal of this mod.

Kotor mods exist all over the net, many were actually lost (I won't go into the sad tale of Filefront), but many exist still hosted on multiple sites some independant which are available. Imagine just the amount of time I have spent searching the net locating... you get the idea lol.

This is a big project. In Vanilla for example all Sith have regular eyes, in Kotor Remastered all Sith have Sith eyes (yellow/red). It hard to tell because the screenshot is dark but Malak above was completely redone even has the Sith eyes and the gray Sith skin, compare that to vanilla! That is the level of detail I am applying.

    I have typed much lol.

But yes, I hope to upload a beta very very soon.

    Regards.

Oh and yes there are content changes as well. I won't give them away however. I want people to be surprised when they play. I certainly was in a few spots.

One was particularly frustrating, as a character's weapons were changed appropriately. Let's just say it reminds you of the Obi Wan vs General Grievous duel. It was not easy. That's just a tiny hint spoiler.

Aw shoot. I will just come out and say it. Sherruk the Mando has a collection of lightsabers from killing Jedi. This version of Kotor he uses those lightsabers, on you. Good luck, but that is how his character should have been versus wielding vibroblades. I barely beat him in the playthrough test. After I was done I could relate better with the Obi/Grievous duel.

But thanks goes to the authors who took the long hours doing as such above. I am only sorting and adding as appropriate.

    So I have a confession.....

I finished my pre beta playthrough last night. I encountered a few minor bugs.

But that is not the confession. The confession is that was the first time I beat the game. I played this decades ago and never got past the last world when I put it down. Several other occasions I picked it back up but never completed.

So, yes, indeed. I beat Kotor for the first time.

I actually had to temporarily scrap this project. Unfortunately something in my personal life came up, and in an emergency I needed to free up space for litigation storage. I plan on restarting the project soon, it just sucks because months worth or work was lost in an instant. It was an emergency though because I needed to clear space up for video/audio recording for legal purposes.

But hey, I am discouraged but not defeated.
