Kylo Ren abilities and future progression ?

Probably not.. Little too much, although I wouldn't mind it really... I like Force Unleashed concept where the characters greatest flaw is his overwhelming strength...

 

Just my speculation, but I think that Kylo Ren aspires to be a Sith but isn't one yet.....which might, in part, go some way to explaining what the Knights of Ren are. I think his powers are wild and need refining.

 

Except LR survives .

This my guide on relative power levels of the Star Wars characters. My own personal opinion based on duels and dialogue seen and heard throughout the 6 movies.
I think all duels make sense if reference this guide, including the one we will see on 17th December .
As I said it is MY personal OPINION, so only reference it if you agree with it

*theoretical level assuming Master is roughly 3 levels higher than Knight/Apprentice and aged is roughly 1 level below Master.

Characters can duel any character that is on their level, 1 level above or 1 level below. These duels can go either way but the character that is ranked higher is more powerful and "should" win.
Characters are not powerful enough to duel a character that is 2 or more tiers above them.

 

What I would pay to see a cage match between all of the level one characters.......Rey being marked as "Jedi' and Finn only being marked "rebel" seems significant. Weird how low Dooku is on the scale, even with this obviously not being an "official ranking." The eight for Kylo seems high in comparison, but who knows! Maybe he is about the same as young Anakin or just below Maul! To keep it on Kylo, I'll ask this: who do you think he'll fight in episodes VIII and IX, and how do you think those duels will conclude? If Rey and Kylo come to a draw, due to outside factors ending the fight, that's one sort of win, but it's also a loss from a certain point of view.....I hope he doesn't fight Snoke in a "I've changed my ways to help/save my family and friends" way. I'd like it to be in a "I'm sick of your crap and want to be the most powerful now" way, even though I don't think Kylo will ever come close to killing Snoke. Kylo v. Luke, or Snoke and Kylo v. Luke and Rey??? Now, those are fights I'm dying to see!

 

Well, to be completely real - not really. Obi-Wan would just stab him while he's doing "the awesome spin" just like against Anakin in Ep3. It is still coreographed, though not in the way it was in the prequels. That was expected.

But yeah, you gotta admit that rage and passion from the shot, it looks legit.
