SPECULATION Kylo Ren fixing his lightsaber ??

I don't think there is a definitive shot of it being broken. Rey knocks it out of his hand but it doesn't fall into 2 pieces or something so if it was actually broken I don't they would spend much time showing it being fixed because they didn't detail if it was actually broken.

 

I'm actually wondering who retrieved his helmet before Starkiller exploded.

 

Yeah from the shot in the film she could have just hit the blade of his saber with such force that it caused him to drop it, and thus it switched off.

As for the helmet, it could have been any number of troopers. we also don't know how Ren got ahead of Rey & Finn to confront them in the snow.

 

The lightsaber wasn't broken.
Ren gets up again but she HITS HIS SABER'S HILT -- HIS BLADE GOES FLYING OFF, TUMBLING INTO THE SNOW

The helmet you see in TLJ isn't the TFA helmet.

 

So he gets another destroyed in TLJ? lol poor guy.

 

Maybe he has dozens of these helmets lying around somewhere. His helmet was beaten up before, so I don't think he really cares about the mask. He'll destroy the next one by himself. At least that's what I'm thinking.

 

i kinda don't get why this is such an issue. Rey and Finn are up top, having climbed a long ladder, which they now have to descend.
he's below them on the ground level. all he has to do is march out into the forest and wait.
now if we want to ask why march way out there instead of just meeting them at the bottom, then we have a legitimate goofy convenient let's-make-pretty-scenery-instead-of-logic moment. but how he was ahead of them doesn't seem remotely mysterious. : D

 

I don't think we need to spend screen time on little things like this unless they are like, on the background of a scene. I can totally suspend my disbelief that he recovered or fixed the helmet or the saber offscreen. However I cannot suspend my disbelief if there is a serious plot hole or something like that.

@FN-3263827 Wasn't there a deleted scene of Finn and Rey escaping on a speeder or something? Or was that before Han died?

Agreed. The ladder going up to that little deck they were on was easily 40-50 feet up (or more). Kylo is at ground level. If he ran out of the building to cut them off he would easily make it there before the two of them had to go backward down a ladder and then run out there.

 

Let's also keep in mind Kylo already knows where the Falcon is and would know the best way to cut them off.

 

Sometimes I wonder if some scenes being deleted were unnecessary.

 

The Kylo with the Falcon shot is one I can't believe was deleted. The deleted scenes on the bluray are canon though I beleive. When Finn and Rey arrive at the ladder you can see the speeder in the background so I guess it isn't that the deleted scenes didnt happen they just didnt fit them in.

 

it's a pacing thing for most of them. for others it's just about the tone or setting things up for the biggest payoff.
we didn't need to see Rey and Finn hijack a speeder; it's a superfluous action sequence that might have actually dragged down the tension.
all we needed to know was that they got there and achieved the objective (because there's kinda no doubt that they will).

same reason we don't focus on Ren's light saber in the fight. it's not critical.
she knocked it out of his hand. we can see it laying there in the snow.
whether it's broken isn't what we should be worrying about in the moment ~ hahaha

 

I agree about the Falcon one. It seems scenes that showed his struggles with the Light were cut more than anything else. They even recorded the part with Snoke accusing him of having compassion for Rey, and then cut it completely out of the movie.

@FN-3263827 I didn't find it broken beyond repair. Just needs to be reassembled haha

 

Yeah and then like RO, some of what actually happened in the story got changed and that's why those scenes aren't included in the special features. (Maz handing Leia the saber etc.)
