    Kylo Ren has two personas, masked and unmasked. With the mask he is intimidating like his grandfather, his voice altered in a Darth Revanesque mask. Without the mask, we see Ben Solo who is insecure and vulnerable, yet also accessable and capable of a bond. The question is simple, which Kylo do you prefer?

    Well ROTJ Vader didn't exactly look too menacing without his helmet either.

    If the goal is to make the character a feared badass, then helmet all day long

    I like both equally, so I'm happy that we will get both in TROS.

    Adam Driver is an amazing actor. Hiding his face all the time would be stupid. So, in action scenes Kylo can wear his mask, in character centred scenes he should be maskless.

    I an intrigued Kylo is bringing the mask back and is adding some spectacular runes to the faceplate. I wonder what compells Kylo to don the mask again?

    Adam Driver is a good actor no doubt about it, but Darth Vader instilled much more fear, and part of the persona was the mask, which was pretty much on the whole time.

    Over time I've grown to like him unmasked. I will admit, seeing a young man with fluffy hair emerge from the mask for the first time in TFA was a bit jarring, but I got used to it over the course of the film and I personally think he looked fantastic without the helmet in TLJ.

    Its interesting how masks can let a person, in this case Kylo, express themselves effectively. The mask allows the person the ability to reveal their hidden self, so then the question must be asked, is the mask really flesh and not the one Kylo puts on? Sorry, got philosophical. Keep voting and posting. :)

    Unmasked for sure. I dig the look of the mask (and I see its purpose, obviously), but to me he's far more interesting in his vulnerable, emotional form.

    Kylo Ren with the mask is a walking action figure. Kylo Ren without the mask is the most interesting ST character.

    I think the mask represents control of emotions for Kylo. Masked Kylo is much darker then unmasked.

    I've always suspected that in his mind he literally 'keeps Ben in' by wearing the mask.

    I totally agree. Ben is a weakness that represents betrayal of his loved ones, Kylo represents the control and power of Vader who he is trying to be. He does have a lot of Anakins temper as Ben.

    Indeed. What I like about Kylo is how he is differenr than Vader. While Vader had confidence (ego, meglomania even) Kylo has insecurity and is desperarely trying to measure up to his grandfather’s dark legacy. When Rey tells Kylo “You’ll never be as strong as Darth Vader!,” Ben’s face conveys that she has struck a cord. This happens again in TLJ when Snoke is chastising Kylo and with tinge of despair he says, “I’ve given everything to you and the Dark Side.” I can relate to Ben’s self doubt more than Vader dark confidence.

    Yeah you are right. He wants to be Vader but he's not, and I guess the intent was not really to make Vader 2.0.
