I have a feeling Adam Driver is going to steal the show in The Rise of Skywalker.

Adam has already stolen the show in TLJ for me, which is saying something because that movie had some damn good acting. I initially was unsure of how I felt about his character after seeing TFA, but TLJ has boosted his character to one of my favorite character in all of Star Wars. I can’t wait to see where his journey goes this December!

He has struggled with the legacies of both the Light and Dark within his family and I hope to see him bring balance not to the Force, but to the Skywalker family as a whole. The internal struggle he’s dealing with in these films is so believable and real, that I just want to see Ben Solo find inner peace.

I don’t think Kylo necessarily wanted to rule the First Order, he wanted to be free of the shadow cast on him by his abusive mentor, Snoke, just as he wants to be free from the legacy that Luke, Leia, and Han have set. No matter how powerful he becomes as Supreme Leader, he’ll never be complete what he doesn’t let himself have: love, from his family and from Rey. Just like his helmet, his soul his shattered and redemption just might be what fixes it.

To close out, here is this awesome line about Ben Solo from Aftermath: Empire’s End: “With the blood of a scoundrel and a princess in his veins, his defiance will shake the stars.”

"There is nothing more powerful than genetics. If you really imagine the steaks of him [Ben Solo] in his youth and having all these special powers..."

"...and having your parents gonna be absent during that process on their own agendas equally as selfish. He's lost in the world that he was raised in and feels that he was kinda abandoned by the people that he's closest with. He's angry because of that."

Yeah. I've said it before. Kylo Ren is the best thing that the ST has going for it. I see Kylo as the main character of the saga. Not Rey.

I liked this aspect too. You had the true blues, good and evil, but you also had compromised characters.

Honestly, I kind of think he brought nuance that was otherwise lacking in some of the previous series. A villain who is conflicted about his actions. Something that is comparatively new to the series.

In the Revenge of The Sith, you see Anakin jump from defending his father figure to effectively bringing the boys to kill a bunch of schoolchildren.

    While he was doing this:
    • Does he have any doubts about what he is doing while at the Jedi temple?
    • Does he see himself in any of the younglings that he is killing?
    • How does he feel about his actions afterwards in the silence between missions to hunt Jedi? I know from watching a documentary series about a group of 17 year old Wehrmacht soldiers who were given the task of rounding up and killing Jews, many of them initially expressed horror at what they were asked to do. Some refused. Some complied only to vomit and had vivid nightmares afterwards. Some overcame this initial squeamishness and it became routine becoming one continually turning wheel in the engine of genocide.

    tl;dr:
It wasn't always that rushed.... initially Anakin turned, betrayed the Jedi and sat on the Council after becoming a Lord of the Sith. This made the Youngling Slaughter, a premeditated act instead of Vader's first marching orders upon completing enrollment and that upset those who were screening the film for Lucas. So it was re shot.

Pull up ROTS, cue it to Palpatine vs Mace and look closely at the saber in the Chancellor's grasp. That hilt belongs to Anakin.

He was there the whole time, before the Jedi pose showed up....

The entire production of ROTS was rushed, much to the frustration of many involved (including prominent actors who have publicly criticized the rushed nature of the production). It's no wonder the narrative itself feels rushed as well. Awful film in my book and probably (other than Solo) my least favorite of all SW films.
