SPECULATION Lack of iconic Lightsabers?

    Hey guys!

    So, as a lightsaber collector, Saberforge, Genesis, JQ and Official FX/ MR movie sabers.

    My concern with the new movies is the potential lack of new sabers. (Putting Kylos aside for now)
    Original trilogy:
    Luke - Blue - Graflex/ EB/ AH
    Luke - Green
    Ben - Blue
    Vader - Red

    Prequel trilogy
    Maul - Red
    Mace - Purple
    Yoda - Green
    Dooku - Red
    Grievous - Blue x 2, Green x 2
    Kit Fisto - Green
    Anakin - Graflex version
    Sidious - Red
    Agen Kolar - Blue
    Saesee Tiin - Green
    Plo Koon - Blue
    I could go on forever here haha but ya get the idea!

    Old Republic
    I could actually put you all to sleep on this one, but there is a lot haha.

    Do you think there will be more lightsabers and Jedi in this next episode and further, if so color and styles?

    My hopes:
    - Luke is not alone at the temple he made it out with a few other Jedi/ Padawans, he's training to return and defeat Snoke with.....
    - This means more custom lightsabers and new classic designs.
    - I hope Luke has his son at the temple, now old enough and well trained enough he is given the Graflex
    - Rey makes her own lightsaber staff, completely new design!
    - We see the Knights of Ren carrying some awesome red sabers!

    I really would love this because, I want some new generation official FX/ MR for this generation aside from Kylo's lightsaber (Which I love) but I am more a single beam man!

    Let me know your thoughts :)

    I'm with you on this, but I fear they reduced the whole Jedi and lightsaber usage back to OT appearance and far away from PT. So after we got Kylo's new design, we may only get a new one for Rey, but probably just in IX. I also expect that Rey will be the only Jedi in this trilogy. There are no hints that anyone else is with Luke on Ach-to or that the KoR use any lightsabers. The TFA concept has them with spears and other similar weapons. :(

    If Snoke owns a lightsaber, then this will be the next unique one. A white coloured lightsaber would be awesome but I think Snoke just relies on his force powers. (emperor)

    Uhm what? Why? So, if we leave out Mauls from Episode one and Vaders' lightsaber in ANH we have less iconic lightsabers too.

    I hope they will keep Kylo's saber, Luke's blue and probably the classic green one from ROTJ (Is Luke with it during these 30 years?). I don't wanna see that mess of colors from the prequels. A ligthsaber must be ignitiate just a few times during the movie, it works better and you apreciate them more.

    Yeah I hear ya!

    But when I say iconic, I don't mean it has to be a crazy whacky design, I more mean new lightsabers hilts added to the lore of Star Wars

    I agree. However I wouldn't mind seeing a white one. The question is, even if we do, and I understand it's a long shot, will there be anyone in the ST to wield it?

    Sabres in the ST should be rarities, carrying an air of mystery about them - so far they've got it spot on imho

    Here are some cool ideas:

    - Lightsaber on a Ring instead of a hilt.
    - "Hilt-less" lightsaber
    - Scissor-sabers
    - Lightsaber freezbees & Hoola-hoops
    - Multicolor lightsaber, or color-changing depending on the mood of the person
    - Wampa-claw saber
    - Lightsaber chainsaw

    I admit, all terrible ideas, I am sorry.

    While I agree with most concerning the overuse of sabers in the PT, I would like to see a saber other than green/blue in the ST. I think something aside from the "normal" two colors would stand as a nice visual representation that this new era of Jedi or Jedi-To-Be, regardless of how little or how many there may be, are different from those of the old order. Getting away from the "uniform" look of their sabers would be great.

    Now as for what color/colors, that really comes down to personal preference. I would enjoy seeing another purple saber like Mace's.

    I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but I feel pretty certain they will stick to the blue / green / red format for this trilogy, however.

    There is a chance Snoke will have a saber and I would think that before the trilogy is over Rey will have one of her own. Besides Kylo's saber in TFA, those are the likely only new ones we will see

    The KOR is a tricky one. We might see new ines from them, but in the Forceback sequence they are carrying more traditional weapons so I am skeptical that we will see them with sabers.
