After re-watching Castlevania, I got the urge to watch some old anime but I have no patience for shows, so I watched Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. Seventeen years old and still great.

my sister and i decided to watch the Deathly Hallows movies this weekend. it was a total disaster.
neither of us are all that interested in Harry Potter to begin with--also, haven't seen all the other movies.
not sure what we were thinking.
i wanted to see Alan Rickman and she thought if we skipped to the end, we'd be able to "catch up" and get the most bang for our buck.

i won't go into a long diatribe about what i thought of the films--the short of it is that we agreed it was depressing stuff and couldn't get invested in any of it.
didn't help either that we had just watched The Revenant and were making jokes about Hux, Bane, and Howard Hughes being lost in the wilderness, only to then be confronted with this gem in the first 10-15 minutes of the movie:

the evening devolved into jokes about Hux and, well, Harry Potter, i guess.

we're adults. i swear we are.

Well. The last movie I watched was not the one I talked about earlier...it was this:
    http://m.imdb.com/title/tt2229499/
Now...I cant say that Im much of a Joseph Gordon Lewit fan, not since 10 things I hate about you, but...this was fun to watch. Cuz....I actually know people like Jon. And women like his blond psycho girfriend...but also women like the always lovely Clarice 2...

Dunkirk - It's Nolan's best since The Dark Knight, hands down. Thrilling from start to finish. You're just thrown into these events and feel the intensity very effectively. Cinematography is top-notch and the sound was amazing. Nolan had a lot of room to show off and he delivered - it's one of those films where the director is the star.

I watched Spider-Man Homecoming again a few days ago and loved it even more this time. Tom Holland is an excellent Peter Parker and Spidey. He pulls off both wonderfully. Vulture was a good villian and the movie was funny too. It was also nice to see in this Spidey movie that Peter is a teen who has things going on outside of him being Spidey. Go see it if you haven't already.

I watched Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, and the late, amazing Bill Paxton. I've always wanted to watch it, but I can't stand anything Tom Cruise is in, except for MI III because it's in generally awesome. But it was pretty good. The plot and action sequences in the film made it good, not necessarily the acting. There were a lot of sci fi elements from other films jammed together but it still somehow felt original, and it's not like anyone can create anything that hasn't been done before this day and age. Cruise was still annoying. I imagine his cocky, I don't really want real responsibilities character is similar to his real life personality.

    just watched Dunkirk.
i get it: it's not for everybody, but this is exactly the kind of cinema i love:
    harrowing, intense, gorgeous, and heart-breaking.

It's so funny. Driver is fantastic. He deadpans it the whole movie for the most part.

If it wasnt for Daniel Craig, Driver would be the star of the film
