Wind River - This movie is a masterpiece, imo. I hadn't seen it in a few years and it is still just a great as I first seen it.

@NinjaRen and I watched what lies beneath today this afternoon, a nice to watch mystery/ thriller
with Harrison Ford. We ordered it on Amazon, it wasn't for free, but we both have never seen this movie before so it was about time.

One of those sequels that's overall not as good as the first but has some individual scenes that are as funny as anything in the original. I don't understand why they wrote an original screenplay for this movie when the original novel had 8 sequels at the time they could have adapted, all of them probably better stories than this. Well a few of them are prequels that might not have worked given how much Chevy aged in 5 years but they still had a good 5-6 books they could have used as a plot.

Yesterday's afternoon watch: Flatliners with Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts. Ugh, I can see why this movie has become somewhat of a cult movie, but damn, that movie didn't age well and is visually a desaster. The beginning is interesting, however overall a huge disappointment.

The concept is compelling, but the execution was quite weak. The death trips are mostly bad dreams, and they quickly start to pall with the same scene basically being repeated several times. Kinda boring if you ask me.

Last night I've just watched one of those films with such and weird atmosphere that made me think of some of the best and creepiest movies of Lynch and Kubrick: Get Out.
I really enjoyed. The only scenes that I felt that took me out of the movie were the comic ones. But in general this movie was a good surprise.

There's something special in Dune that made me rewatch it, something that attracts me: this movie has such good scenarios and costumes, the scenes of the worns moving through the dunes are pretty amazing too.
The problem is that I never read the books, so the story to me seems a mess. Is a movie very hard to follow because of the script or maybe the movie is too short to condense a big book?
Waiting to see if Villeneuve's version of this will make more sense to me or he will able to explain a little better the story in a general way.

I'm in the minority in the Dune-fandom, but I absolutely abhor that movie :p It deviates widely from the book and changes the entire point of the narrative, and the acting is frequently weirdly woody or just downright strage. The best thing I can say about this movie is that,
    a) the voice-over thing is an interesting experiment and I am happy enough with the result there,
and b) they sure had a big budget, and they spent it all on costumes and set design, which I appreciate.

But yeah, most Dune-folk seem to love that film for some reason. Of all the films I don't like, this is by far the one I've seen the most, heh heh. Don't know why I keep doing it ;) Also, I'm stupid, so what do I know?

There are also multiple versions of the film, and some of the longer versions are a little better.

I've read that there's a longer version that it was released for tv, but now I'm not interested. I'll probably wait for Villeneuve's version and maybe try to read the first book.

The Arrival with Amy Adams, there's nothing wrong with this one, but it's one of these movies you don't have or want to watch twice.

The other day we watched Disturbia, haven't seen this one before. Perfect movie for a movie night with your partner.

By all means, do watch the movie. It is worth it for the visuals if nothing else. Also, who knows? I might be wrong ;)
