    What the actual...
I'd argue that this is... probably... very strong acting... I think? This weirdness looks pretty difficult to pull off.

Well it's Crispin Glover who is pretty weird already. They probably didn't even tell him they were rolling, just put on some music and let him do his thing.

It's funny, I saw this movie in the theater when I was 16 but I still have to ask... how is it? Over the years (not just now that I'm much older) I haven't been able to remember a single thing about it even though I was wide awake, sober and staring at it on a giant screen for 90 minutes. So I always assumed it was the definition of a forgettable movie.

I saw it in theaters too but in my early teens. It's pretty forgettable but it doesn't make it bad. A decent popcorn watch

I figured it probably wasn't awful, if it were I'd probably have remembered it or at least remembered hating it. I was surprised to see on Wikipedia that Viggo Mortensen was in it, I didn't remember that but he wasn't that big yet I don't think. Or at least not with me. I also saw Eraser in the theater but I was too young to see Commando when it came out or I probably would have been there. My brother had the VHS though.

Yeah Viggo wasn't a big name yet and only had a minor role

Collateral watched it with @the Supreme Leader

Cruise and Jamie Foxx, really enjoyed this buddy dynamic... I wish they would have done something similar with Kylo Ren in Tros, having to team up with Rey or Finn/ Poe... that would have been something!

I think I watch this movie in the theaters with my father back in the 90's when they had a discount of half price on Wednesdays.
We used to go every week.
The 90's were the time when I went to the movies all the time. Now is rare.

I thought it was fun, the inner kid in me had a good time.
:D (perhaps it helped having not read the book or having no expectations going into it.)

@cawatrooper or anyone else who has read the book, is it an easy read? I'd like to get it for my younger cousin(s) who are around 7-8. They can handle Harry Potter, so am I correct in assuming they'd be fine with Fowl?

I used to go to with my parents to a $1 movie theater every weekend back then while occasionally going to see a big new film. I remember that experience and films I watched including this one and sharing a big tub of popcorn with them!

    I miss the 90's!

Hmm, I think I was probably 10 or 11 when I read the first Artemis Fowl, but it was a pretty easy read. If they can handle Harry Potter (impressive for that age!) I'd assume that from a reading level standpoint they should be fine.

Subject matter wise, it's not particularly inappropriate, either. The biggest challenge is that Artemis (arguably the "main character", and certainly the one kids might identify with most) is a bit Machivellian for a kids book. Which again- it's a shame the movie ignored this aspect because it's a big part of the charm of the book. But I could see kids grappling with the idea that the book is largely told from the point of view of its supposed villain.

The last film I watched was “The Big Red One” from 1980, and starred our own Mark Hamill as a World War II soldier. The film was pretty good and it shows a different side to the guy we all recognize as Luke Skywalker. Lee Marvin is also in it for those like him.
