Rebooting the 3 LOTR movies would be a huge mistake and tough thing to do. I don't know what more they can add unless they add few extra stuff that the movies left out. Unless they do a movie that compliments the 3 movies which I hope the Amazon show does.

    Citation needed?

I know that I've acknowledged that there is ample evidence that some of the criticism has come from bots created by alt-right groups, but I'd hardly say "all" of the criticism is that- just that it's had a noticeable effect.

Is there a certain quote from someone involved with the film that resonates with you on this? Genuinely asking, because that would be disappointing to me.

Customers isn't always right and it brings entitlement to something that isn't theirs. 95% of the time, customers are wrong. Source: 10 years of working retail.

ok, so when I want to buy a house and they want to sell me a hut, of course I'm wrong, because how I could know what I want. Wow and I thought Germany is only a customer desert.

you can find the JJ quote about male beeing afraid of strong women and the other one is the comments towards RT low scores because of bots.

Sorry, not sure where you're going with this. But if you're looking to buy a house and you're at a company that sells huts, I'd suggest leaving and going to a company that sells houses, not sticking around and complaining at the hut salesmen because they're not selling what you personally want.

So here's the quote that I believe you're referring to:

I absolutely do not see how anyone could argue that JJ is attempting to invalidate others' opinions. He's just, like me, acknowledging that there is some issue with sexism in the community. If you're not part of the problem, move on.

I will also address this follow up to his quote:
But here, he's not saying that these problems have to do with sexism, but rather addressing the critiques that are unavoidable on the internet.

Is that really the quote that has you upset? Or is there something else? Because the way I see it, you're in a business that sells huts and houses, and you're complaining that people can buy huts there when you're personally not interested in them.

@cawatrooper so what do you want to tell me? Go away, forget the franchise that helped you so much in hard times? Maybe you are right and there is nothing for me anymore. It is a fight not worth fighing anymore. But like in a relationship that lasted for decades, you don't want to realize it is over. :(

    Nah. Never.

What I want to tell you is that I think you feel attacked right now. I think the JJ interview thing was an exercise in poor communication. And I don't want you or others to feel like your voices are invalidated.

I'm sure we disagree quite a bit on the quality of TLJ, but unless your opinions do stem from those things JJ was talking about, then I think we can all agree that you're totally in your right to have them.

So I guess, as a fellow fan, I'd just want you to know that you should always be a part of the community and do what you can to mold Star Wars into what you want it to be. And maybe realize that sometimes you're going to lose that battle, and the best thing you can do is to continue on, though trying to find the silver lining in what you do like doesn't hurt. But know that even if you haven't liked the last few years, Star Wars can be great, and the people working on it do value you.

And I guess if after all that you're still lukewarm on the whole thing- well, nothing lasts forever, but we'd be sad to see you go.

Lol in some way Luke and Biggs are like Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. Though in this one Sebastian Stan is not Luke LOL.

    Some crazy weird AU:

Luke: "Sorry Han, but he's my friend."
    Han: "So was I."

Only in this one, the ship won't sink and no Celine Dion song.

    NEAAAAAAAR FAAAAAAAR WHEREEEEEVAAAAA YOU AREEEE

    Beast? Did somebody say beast?

    TALE AS OLD AS TIMEEEEEEEEEE

Lol didn't mean to make this a post of Academy Award-winning songs but...

LET IT GOOOOOO LET IT GOOOOO

And the best part of it is that the things that make someone love the saga in the first place are still there. Maybe some people will see that for them Star Wars ended in 1983 and that's OK. Or some others would consider 2005 as the end of the saga. And that's perfectly fine. Some will stick to the old EU as the sacred texts *insert meme here* and that's perfectly alright. We all can find things in the saga we do love and some of us will like it as a whole - ST included - and that's fine too.

Sorry.:( I do understand and share your disappointment with the way the ST is going. I was introduced to the OT as a young child and I have 3 older brothers who love SW and we had all the toys and games, etc. so it's been a very big part of my life too. I'm also at a point where I wonder if "new" SW is really for me anymore. I'm trying to be the eternal optimist and hope that Ep. IX helps make sense of everything and leaves the ST on a positive note. It's getting harder and harder to keep up the optimism though! Especially with things like this novel that seem to be rubbing salt in the wound.

The fact of understanding or not understanding ( or finding) the meaning of something, depends on the perception of each person, so that his sentence is not entirely wrong. That's what you expect, that Episode IX makes the whole Sequel Trilogy make sense to YOU

As @cawatrooper explained the JJ quote has been taken completely out of context. So you have nothing to worry about when it comes to JJ. Very few people have generalized the people who don't like the film. As far as the RT score is concerned the problems with the user score are well documented. I don't think it's bots. A single person voted 800 on a SWWN poll. All you need a few hundred people willing to vote that many times on the RT site to influence the vote. That's a very reasonable opinion of user polls even if someone happens to disagree with it.

Okay fine, but because I feel like presumptions are being made, I will make myself clear. I'm going into Ep. 9 with no expectations and no idea on where this story may be going. The only thing I hope for is that the final chapter ties the trilogy together. That's all. I have no agenda or theory that I'm holding onto. I guess if you want to still think that means it should make sense for only me then so be it.

You should say that if you mean that. When you say "makes sense of everything" you're plainly stating that it currently does not make sense. To say that isn't what you mean in the current environment is disingenuous.

Good grief, all this over a few words in one post. I've spent way too much time going around in circles with others on here about minor things, so instead of doing that, I'm just going to say okay, I've got you, and have a nice day.

Yes. However, I'm not in a argumentative mood this morning, and I'm rather surprised that one line in a post is getting so much attention, so I won't bore you with all my reasons. I'm pretty sure I've gone over them somewhere around here before! I though that ROTJ tied everything up nicely in the OT, ditto with ROTS in the PT. You could look back on previous moments in the other movies in those trilogies and see why those things happened and why the story went that way. That's really all I would like to see in the last chapter of the ST. I hope you get what I mean and know that there's no agenda, other than wanting a good movie. And please, for the love of all that's holy, please don't come back with a "You want a good movie for YOU and by YOUR standards!!" If that's what you think I'm trying to say then I have failed and I give up.:)

No way man, you're good. I think we all want a good movie, and it's wise to think and hope that the ST closes out nicely.
