I always found it degrading to Chewbacca that they made him go after the hanging meat bait that the ewoks left in that trap. Chewie is an intelligent creature. Why would he just grab something like that hanging in the woods like that?

Love that deleted scene. It is weird how it immediately cuts and she has her arms around him so fast. I understand the angle with C3PO is better, but it really gets obvious after watching the movie many times.

My worst scene in OT is Vader's planning for the Hoth bombardment. Why the hell did he plan that if he wanted to capture Luke? That is the only scene Vader becomes stupid. That is actually one of the worst scenes in both OT and PT.

If we include Special Edition changes, it would be Mos Eisley before they enter the cantina. Because wow, that sucked. If I could change only one thing in the SE, that would be it. Yeah, I would keep Greedo firing. I would keep Vader going "NOOOOOO!!!!!" in Jedi. That's how much I hate that.
If not, I would have to agree on previous posters with the Luke and Leia scene on Endor. The acting is subpar (though I still would take it over the lifeless, monotone performaces that filled most of the non-CGI characters who oddly enough actually had inflections and facial expressions...weird) and looking at it from an adult's perspective with nearly 20 years of thinking about the film (I was born a decade after Jedi was released), it does feel forced (no pun intended).
Though I still would rather had that and brief moments of squicky accidental incest than having to hear some fans whine about Luke and Leia not ending up together. Cause that would have gotten old before I was even born.
Neither that scene nor Attack of the Clones is hammy. Hammy is Palpatine when he gets to be evil. Hammy is, well, William Shatner. That scene and Attack of the Clones is stilted.

The Luke/Leia kiss in ESB never bothered me, it's not about Luke at all, and he just happened to be a man in the middle of that and someone Leia was comfortable enough to lay one on. He seemed to always be in the friendzone. Really her character was always the "never have time for that" type and basically had to be convinced to let her make room for something like romantic type love for herself as part of her own arc. And these characters became a makeshift family over their adventure in the Death Star, after loosing what families they had before. What is more disturbing is the deleted scene where they do not kiss, but it's deleted and does not count, and part used in the trailer, so no biggie. In Star Wars (episode IV if you will), there is the scene where Han and Leia are talking about the plans in R2 and arguing if the ship is being tracked, She says the line about Han not caring about anything, and Luke says "I care" Han baits him and says the line about a princess and a guy like him and Luke says "No". He obviously has a crush on her. That really isn't that bad either. The Shakespearesque version of the stories that came out a couple of years ago are fun. Here is the scene after the kiss in ESB.

"O kiss most rare, O lips from heaven sent! This is a moment I'll not soon forget. Though I can sense her heart doth turn to Han, Still doth this kiss play tricks upon my soul. By this fair princess I have bewitch'd- 'Twas ever so since I saw her distress. In R2's beam, a'pleading for our help. But though the lass doth move my heart to joy I ne'er would tempt her with a word too large, For shall a Jedi's path lead t'ward romance? But this sweet kiss I'll hold in mem'ry's vault As a reminder of my nobel cause: To serve rebellion and my princess kind."

Then later in the scene in the Return of the Jedi, where he does the family tree with Obi-wan:

"{aside} O wondrous revelation to my soul! A sister, and before me comes her face: For surely Leia is my sister, else. My instincts have no truth in them. What news! I know not whether to respond with shouts of greatest joy, or to shrink back in fear and paralyzing shock at what we've done. Three times hath she kiss'd me in friendship's name, The last of these more passionate than e'er. A sister should upon her sib bestow There is an ancient tale of Tatooine, That tells of Tusken Raider who, through Fate (then goes into some disturbing story of a Tusken Raider and his mother's relationship without knowing, will spare the details but the Raider goes mad with the knowledge, pops out his eyes and some other stuff, but it's kind of long and funny) My fate for crossing o'er the boundary none should cross, e'en once? I'll warrant:nay, Not only have I superstitions none, But our brief moments of affection were A trifle none could call a love affair. I now see clearly but still have my eyes, and And may my sister know sans tragedy, Thus, I do make a solemn, earnest vow: I shall embrace my royal sister as A pow'rful ally, and shall show to her the path that surely leads unto The Force. [To Obi-Wan] "Tis Leia, aye" My soul doth know 'tis she. "

These Shakespearean books are funny and if you are into it, would recommend them. It's just they were written years after the movies, and we knew the story as it was, and even after the prequels, and the nature of them is to have asides where characters work out their feelings. It's just those references to the scene amuse me, and it's one that people often refer to as being a bit weird, especially right after "Sibling Day" when the meme is everywhere. They didn't know, they probably hadn't plotted it all out yet in the story, it's often where a trio of two males and a female in a story have a bit of a love rivalry, even if subtle (Harry Potter, Hunger Games are two recent ones I can think of) and Lucas said he had planned on him having a twin sister at some point, and maybe by the time of ESB editing kind of felt that he might go that way depending on conditions so it didn't get to far (editing out that scene where Luke expresses his feelings prior to that awkward scene). I just had to share.

75% of the scenes with Han from the time he comes out of carbonite until they're in the planning meeting for Endor. For a quarter (or more) of ROTJ, he's useless, bumbling, dependent and devoid of all the usual admirable (and sometimes annoying) Han traits. I understand it would otherwise be hard for anyone to rescue him as he generally wouldn't need to be reduced in most circumstances, but his wimpiness went on for far too long. It felt lazy, as if Lucas wanted to concentrate on Luke & Leia, and didn't give much thought to Han.

I hated Chewie's attack on Lando and Leia's reaction to his attack. There was no real follow up on Chewie and Leia's reactions or their inability to realize that they and Han had put Lando in a bad situation.

I was about to go on a massive rant about this very thing. I couldn't have put it better. This scene is just such a let down from the quality that followed it in the previous film. Even how stilted the outtakes/deleted scenes of the Han and Leia Cloud City conversations we're worked around. They couldn't get around these ROTJ scenes what so ever, not in direction, not in script, not even in the edit. Such a shame.

Just looking at the theatrical releases and not special edition stuff, I'd have to say Dagobah in RotJ. Yoda's out of the blue illness and death, the out of the blue revelation that Leia was Luke's sister and the Certain Point Of View speech. It all feels forced and the scene just feels like it's only there to retcon and clear up a few things plus quickly add in some new information. As was said, most of the first act of RotJ just feels like it's tying up TESB's loose ends (though I still love it), but the Dagobah scene is where it's the most obvious.

It's hard to say for me, because I don't want to lump on the SE but it's mostly the SE stuff. The band, the added critters that serve no purpose.

Yeah, it's probably the second worst alteration in the Special Editions after Greedo shooting first. I wouldn't put "Lapti Nek" on my iPod or anything but it's "Stairway To Heaven" compared to "Jedi Rocks". Besides being an awful song with really corny CGI it ruined the flow of the scene and the transition from the previous scene. I'll take Jar Jar over Joh Yowza any day.

Another vote for the Jabba's Palace dance number in the special edition, so annoying and really makes me cringe every time I see it. Even more frustrating when I think the original version was actually okay.

As to the original versions, there are not really any scenes I don't like. The only thing I thought ever needed fixing was the Emperor in Empire and that is one special edition change I'm very happy with.
