What is, in your opinion? the least memorable moments from the original trilogy?

In my opinion, least memorable moment in A New Hope is... Luke and Obi-wan having just sold the speeder to the bug-eyed-freak.

This thread. I kind of like it... What you're asking about is more for the details no one noticed. We could get some interesting things here.

I don't have one at the moment, but I think this is a close-up of the scene you referred to. "Freak" is appropriate here I suppose. Is it just me, or does he have hoof-hands like a horse?

EDIT: My gosh, it even has a name.

Or any film for that matter. And not just names, but figures. Apparently this is legit?

Yup that is legit, there is an action figure of a character from the least quotable and least memorable scene of the movie.

And she has a gun... wat?

The website prohibits the sharing of the image.

EDIT: But I see it leads to the ice cream maker who is evacuating Rebel secrets and all that junk, or whatever it was the people came up with. :p

"Ever since the XP-38 came out, they just started to demand!"

I've always remembered that line...but I never noticed that creature! How is that possible?!

I came into this thread to write my least memorable moment, but I seem to have forgotten what it was.

You know, part of my whole love of Star Wars came from stuff like this.
I have really fond memories of when me and some of my school friends all owned the films on VHS... we used to come into school and talk about something new we had spotted in the background. Y'know things like: "check out those long legs that walk past when Luke is selling his speeder." It almost became like a little challenge to spot something even more weird and obscure each day.
And this was before a lot of these guys had been given names in the EU, so it was literally about spotting new characters and new stuff and imagining what the hell they were all about.

And on top of that, the beauty of SW - for me, at least - was that it was all played totally straight. So much stuff wasn't explained. Like, so many sci-fi films would be tempted to have dialogue like, for example:
"But I was going to the Tosche Station to pick up some power converters."
"Luke, you have no time to go to the local power and energy distribution centre. I don't want you wasting time with your friends Fixer and Deak, and those other dropouts who work there - you can waste time on your friends when your chores are done. If those moisture vaporators aren't fixed, we won't be able to harvest enough water from the atmosphere to sell and make a profit."
But in Star Wars so little was explained, and yet you could still follow it - and that is part of what made it so believable.

Getting back to Wioslea there - the other thing that amazes me is that, even after all these years of staring at this stuff, I still see things that I probably hadn't appreciated before. Like right there are the same "suction cup" hands that were used for Ponda Baba, and I'd never even noticed!

Anyway, I think one of my favourite moments that some people probably don't always see is how Obi-Wan rolls his eyes when Han is boasting about making special modifications to the Falcon... always used to crack me up as a kid...

You are indeed correct. I'd never actually noticed Obi-Wan's reaction because I was too busy giggling about Luke's "What a piece of junk!" comment from right before it. I need to watch them all again and pay as close attention as possible. :D

I wish there wasn't one but there is one in ROJ that's so bad (IMHO) I couldn't help but to make fun of it:

Mine is when (in ANH) Luke meets Han in the hangar as they're about to attack the DS and as Luke turn away Han say's: "May the Force be with you." Te look on Harrison's face in that scene appears that he's holding back a laugh because he thinks that the line is stupid or something...hate that scene. :)

I always took it as Han saying the only thing he could think of to support Luke at the moment, and felt sheepish because he knew Luke would realize Han doesn't mean the words, but might appreciate the sentiment.

For me that moment was that Rebel Trooper starts to put down his rifle at the Endor bunker right after Han tricks the Biker Scout guard into running around the corner. Then it cuts, and we see a guy in full Biker Scout armor slipping on the helmet outside. Brilliant.

Well Tim, you might have a good point...it always seemed like an out-of-scene pushed moment. :)

    Least memorable moment? Hmmmmm.

Ok. may sound funny but the guys on the Yavin 4 base who were using "light stencils" on the clear boards tracking the progress of the battle.

Like who cares. People r remembering the pilots dying & Leia, Dodanna & 3P0 looking at the "circle graphic" tracking the DS -1.
