Well Star Wars fans from both sides it's finally happened, and we've got a heavy-hitter Legends character that has crossed over to Canon...welcome Thrawn.

That having been announced recently has made me wonder who's next and/or how many more that we may possibly see in the remaining movies, etc. We need to keep in mind that there is an OCEAN of content that Lucasfilm/Disney has to pull from called "Legends", that could be dusted off and presented to the "Canon Gods" as an offering, whether it be ships, planets, species, or (as being discussed here)...CHARACTERS.

While I did read the Thrawn literature from the EU, I was just never a "fan" of the Grand Admiral, despite the fact that he was a military and tactical genius My fellow staffmember @Bluestreaking is a REAL Thrawn fan, and I am seriously happy for him that his beloved character was pulled from the other side.

I personally have always been a Mara Jade fan, but I have the sneaky suspicion that we'll never see her in Canon existence based on the fact that she was so deeply rooted directly in the Skywalker family. I personally think that if they did revive her, that unless she was (let's say) "Rey's mother", that I suspect that her emergence would only be a passing mention, and I'd personally rather (in that event) that they didn't bother.

In the event that I actually got to see her in the movies or even in one of the television series, that at this point, the SW story has potentially progressed so far forward that she'd only be a shell of who I knew her as before, as they'd almost (mostly) give her a completely new identity, and again would almost rather that they didn't bother...but on the other hand.... :)

What characters do you expect to see cross the canon line into "reality"? Who would you be willing to bet on that we'll see? Who would you LIKE to see??

The Rebels series will take a dive in Mandalorian lineages apparently, so I could expect some big Mandalorian names from old being mentioned (hoping for Canderous Ordo here).

Just like Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn is closely tied with old canon Luke's Jedi Order,so he would be hard to do, even though I'd like him to become canon.
Other than that, Ajunta Pall would be a nice addition.

I would like to see the Nogri folks becoming canon all along with Thrawn and perhaps also Thalon Kharrde would be worth to come out of dust. And we should not forget the huge potential of all the Old Republik staff. There is enough Material for Decades of SW stories .. good times for enthusiasm.. :)

Kyle could make a return (I could see him bumping into the Ghost crew), but his future would be very different than the Legend character.
Also, yes, Canderous needs to be mentioned. Cause he's awesome.

Talon Karrde could easily make a jump into canon, he doesn't have as much name recognition as a Thrawn or Mara Jade but is still a pretty cool guy

With a few tweaks here and there and vastly changed post-ROTJ storylines Mara Jade and Kyle Katarn can make the jump, both have relations to Thrawn which makes it possible (Mara's being far stronger than Kyles of course)

Depending on how much Thrawn extends beyond Rebels we could see Pellaeon make a comeback

There are also plenty of people such as a Tycho Celchu or Soontir Fel that costs nothing to throw in but also doesn't really bring anything to the table.

I still really want to see Revan. :( I mean, they have his TCW model so why not use it? It would make sense for him to make a small cameo. I am sure Jeff Bennett would be more than willing to voice him.

Given that we see the TIE Interceptors with the blood stripes in the S3 trailer, I'd say that we have a good chance of seeing Fel and his 181st Squadron. I'd personally love to see that, I always looked at Baron Fel as the awesome Red Baron of the SW EU.

I don't think they would bring back anyone who's NOT a name ... although I have to admit that Saw Guerrera was also "unknown" ..

I'm convinced that Thrawn is admiral at the end of Aftermath. And the fact that Rae Sloan is answering to this admiral, and that she's been an Imperial POV character in a lot of stuff now, makes me think that she's Pellaeon in spirit, if not in name and history.

And I think there's a not-negligible chance that Benicio del Toro is playing Thrawn in VIII.

Except Saw was made for the unmade live action show and first appeared in The Clone Wars, very different from an EU character.

I'd like them to bring KOTOR to the current canon.

I'd love to see a lot of the aspects of the KOTOR era be canonized as well. They obviously couldn't bring it into canon wholesale, to many little details don't add up, like there being multiple types of Lightsaber crystals, Sith Force Ghosts and things like that, but there's no reason that they couldn't capture the broad strokes of the story and integrate them into canon.

Yes indeed, but sadly all these details are what elevates KOTOR from great to priceless. I'm guessing that the main reason they haven't canonised the Old Republic Era yet is the tons of stuff they'd have to go through, evaluate and possibly re-write to make it canon-compatible. I believe that if they were to canonise it, yet only leave, say, 70% of it intact, they should just let it be in Legends and be better for it instead. There's no escaping it eventually so we shall see when the time comes.

I totally get where you are coming from, but for me, I'm not really looking for an exact retelling in the new canon. Instead, I would love to see Revan referenced as a Legendary person in the history of the SW Universe. Preferably, I would like to see Revan remain as mysterious as possible, leaving his motivations mysterious and lost to the sands of time, possibly even leaving his/her gender ambiguous. Handling things in this way allows each person to sort of draw their own conclusions about Revan and what kind of person he/she was. One of the biggest mistakes of The Old Republic IMO was revealing way to much about Revan.

Handling things like that allows people to hold onto their interpretation of Revan based on how they played through KOTOR, satisfying more fans in the process. You can still reference all kinds of things from KOTOR like the mysterious Sith super weapon of times past called the Star Forge. Plus you can reference Legendary Republic Admirals like Carth Onasi and famous Mandalorian blood lines like those of the Ordo clan, so on and so forth. There's really all kinds of ways to bring stuff from KOTOR into canon :).

I like this idea. It lets us personally headcanonize our own playthroughs while allowing Revan to exist in canon period. Especially since KotOR II, flawed as it is, was brilliant in how it allowed for male/female Jedi/Sith playthroughs, with the Exile correcting any "errors" in the recounting of KotOR I at the beginning of the game.

Side note: I am a big fan of the theory that the voice in the Sith Holocron in Rebels might just be Revan (after all, Pablo Hidalgo did refer to Revan as "she" eariler this year).

It would be great if they did bring Talon Karrde back into cannon. Really loved him from the old Thrawn Trilogy novels

I agree with you about Mara...My personal favorite from the old cannon, but I would rather not see some weird reincarnation of her within the new cannon

Oh my god you may be right about Toro! You know, he does kind of fit the role!!

We know that Filoni was at least thinking about including some Yuuzhan Vong in an episode or arc of TCW, he showed concept art of what they would look like in the show's art style at Celebration a year or two ago.
