SPECULATION Legends characters becoming canon

I want Mara Jade! And maybe that female Emperors Hand that was supposed to kill Luke or maybe the red headed woman Luke married who was the mother of Ben Skywalker.

I feel like the two most popular considering all that we have at the moment would be Mara Jade and Darth Plagueis, which the latter of COULD be done through Snoke. I believe the groundwork for that is mostly already laid. I am very glad they added Thrawn to canon through Rebels. I wouldn't mind a Starkiller-esque character either. whether it's BDT as one of Snoke's other apprentices or a secret apprentince to Vader in a possible solo flick, like the original character in Force Unleashed. I really wish that Disney would eventually do a KOTOR show with Dave Filoni. Something with Revan in it. Darth Bane. Lumiya, although I do view Snoke as a kind of play on her character, primarly her appearances in The Legacy of The Force series; especially considering they considered making Snoke female at one point. That along with Kylo Ren/Ben Solo's similarities with Darth Caedus/Jacen Solo. I want another Anakin though, in honor of Anakin Solo...which could happen if Reylo comes true. Ben returns to the light and honors his grandfather's legacy. Don't expect it to happen, but I wouldn't mind it. Don't think there is enough time to tell that story really within these two movies left...might be possible though. Tenel Ka...who could be Rey, in a way as well. Could've been born of Royal blood and dropped off on Jakku to hide out. Which makes her a Disney Princess. Makes you wonder if Rey will lose an arm in TLJ too. Lowbacca.

 

Yep I've be excited if she became canon.

 

While I would certainly like to see Mara Jade canonized, being a sort of "face of the EU", after Thrawn, I don't see it happening. Even if RJ or CT decided to make Luke Rey's father, I doubt they would dig into Legends at all, even to pick out Mara Jade. They may not even be familiar with the character at all. JJ and Kasdan didn't seem very familiar with Plagueis, though this is debatable. If Luke is Rey's father, I would like to see Mara Jade. She was a strong character, and was originally a good foil to Luke, making her a great match for Luke, but she's likely a thing of the past. Luke could even be celibate for all we know.

Kyle Katarn is another character I had hoped to see, but I'm sure he's not coming back. Same for Dash Rendar, though he's not so beloved. I'd like to see Thrawn survive into his original time period, and be a problem for the New Republic, but I don't think they've left any room for him in the post-Jedi world, which kills me. At best, he went into the Unknown regions, to do little other than build the First Order.

Speaking of that period, I'd love to see the Yuuzhan Vong canonized as well. I can't stand the fact they were going to appear in The Clone Wars only to be scrapped. I'd like to see the series finished. Leading into Revenge of the Sith has always been manifest destiny for Star Wars! Along with that, I want to see the Vong make their appearance in the canon. Maybe in a future film, as incredibly unlikely as that may be. What better threat than something completely unknown to our characters from outside of the galaxy?

 

I spoke with my brother about this recently. I can see this happening soon, especially if they continue with this trilogies new characters into episode 10, 11, & 12. Even if Ren is not redeemed at the end of 9...what better way to continue the saga with these characters than to force them to join together to defeat a greater external threat? I would really love to see this happen.
