LEGO has recently announced the arrival of an Imperial Star Destroyer to the Ultimate Collector Series later this fall.

The newest addition to the Ultimate Collector Series isn't just any Imperial Star Destroyer, but rather the Devastator from the opening sequence of Star Wars: A New Hope. The set contains 4,784 pieces and when fully built stands over 17 inches high and 43 inches long. Let's just say you're going to need a lot of space for this monster.

The Imperial Star Destroyer includes swiveling guns and tilting radar dish and comes with both an Imperial officer and crew member minifigures. The set even comes with an attachable scale version of the Tantive IV that you can build as well.

The Imperial Star Destroyer will be available at Lego stores and online here starting October 1, 2019. Lego VIPs will be able to purchase it earlier on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. The set retails for $700 USD. So will you be adding this to your collection?

I find your lack of money disturbing.

It's cool and so, but when will LEGO finally be more unique and special?

We get to much Re-releases, and stuff from the OT. More ST stuff would be neat.

Furthermore this isn't for kids anymore. How can you play with stuff like this?

They make them all OT based because these sets are all aimed at collectors, who are primarily adults who grew up with the OT.

The two times Lego made UCS sets based off the prequels, they sold poorly. But that was a long time ago, and now that many of the kids who grew up with the prequels are grown up now, maybe we’ll see more prequel-based (and sequel-based) UCS sets in the future.

Besides the only other UCS sets from the OT they can make at this point would be an A-Wing, maybe another X-Wing (it’s been a while since the last UCS version), and I’d LOVE a Nebulon Frigate.

From the prequels, a UCS Jedi Interceptor or MBS (Master Builder Series) Jedi Temple would be sweet. From the sequels, UCS versions of the Raddus, Resistance Bomber, TIE Silencer, the T-70 X-Wing and FO Special Forces TIE Fighter, as well as a MBS Starkiller Base would be nice as well.

How do they determine the scale for these? It would be really cool if it was the same universally, say 1:500, between the UCS Falcon and this Devastator, but I'm guessing that isn't really the case right?

The Millenium Falcon is 35 m long, the Executor is 19000 m long. That means the second is about 543 bigger than the first.

If the MF would be that 2*2 plate (about 1 cm long):

the corresponding Executor right next door, in the same scale, would be more than 5,40m long...

Yeah... I'd be worried if they eat them or stepped on them. That price point is not for kids, but maybe that's the point? It's labeled as a collector item. Not necessarily something that's playable. I'm just spitballing though.

There's something about the Lego Tantive IV that just looks awesome to me. Sure, the Falcon and Star Destroyer are bigger, but I like the way that Blockade Runner looks in Lego bricks.

I definitely recommend the Tantive IV. The build process was really fun, the figures are excellent, and it just looks great on a shelf!
