Thanks to a series of delays, it appears that much of the planned DLC content that was previously announced for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be available for players to purchase at launch. There's also evidence to suggest that more DLC may be coming on top of these.

A while ago, it was known that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would have multiple DLC packs available during the game's life cycle when it was planned to release in December 2020, five of which would be based on existing movies and shows and one of which would be a throwback for longtime fans. Now, a leaked promotional image showing Grogu, Din Djarin, Jyn Erso, and Hunter as they appear in the game is suggesting that not only will there be a seventh character pack available, but it and the other six will be available to players at launch. Check it out below:

The seven DLC packs listed here are only confirmed to have playable characters and are not expected to have story missions attached to them. They are as follows:

    • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
    • Solo: A Star Wars Story
    • The Mandalorian Season 1
    • The Mandalorian Season 2
    • The Bad Batch
    • Trooper Pack
    • Classic Characters

The first five of these are self-explanatory for what they'll feature, although the other two require a bit more context. 'Trooper Pack' seems to imply variants of existing soldier designs that aren't connected to the nine movies that will be playable here, but the listing seemingly rules out more unique characters from other works. The 'Classic Characters' pack, on the other hand, is confirmed to feature the classic appearances of characters in the LEGO Star Wars games from the mid-2000s. Originally, the plan for the game was for these six (or rather, seven) DLC packs to release over the course of the game's lifespan as opposed to dropping all at once, since The Mandalorian Season 2 would still be airing back in October 2020 (when the game was set to first release), and The Bad Batch would be airing months later in 2021. Instead, it now appears that all of this content will be available at launch, since every show or movie featured here has long since aired.

Will these seven packs be it for The Skywalker Saga? You may want to raise your expectations if the rumors are true! One report from Microsoft-focused outlet Aggiornamenti Lumia has indicated that the latest build of the game has 20 available options to purchase DLC with. Keep in mind, however, that this figure includes bundles and in-app purchases, which means that we won't be getting as many as thirteen more DLC character packs on top of what has been announced. Nonetheless, if this report is true, then this does open the door for packs based on other notable Star Wars projects like The Clone WarsRebels, and The Book of Boba Fett to be added over time, along with shows that will be released after this game hits the shelves. One last important thing to mention is that multiple ratings boards have rated this game, which indicates that it is nearing completion and will most likely make the Spring 2022 release target that was confirmed late last year. It is rumored, although not yet known for certain, that the game will come out on April 5, although some others think that May 4 will be the big day instead. If we're this close to the game's release, then hopefully we'll get some news about the release strategy in the very near future. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be released on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, along with Microsoft Windows.
