Leia Knew that Luke wasn't there and Rey closing the door on Kylo was absolutely symbolic

I remember going rounds with someone here when I suggested that Leia knew that Luke wasn't there when they "touched" hands. Also, the reylo types can no-longe ignore the significance of Rey closing the door on Kylo. They probably will though.

Whether Leia knew or not I don't think it has to do with the hands, Luke seemed to be able to project matter as evidenced by the dice, I think the kiss in the forehead and the touching of hands where completely physical.

They said "She knew that she was experiencing something that nobody else was" (paraphrasing). She could tell by the touch.

    Who said that?
If she knew it could also be because of how she normally connects telepathically with Luke.

@16:18 in the video. "When he touches Leia's hand, she obviously knows."

I just love the bit where they say Rey closes the door on Kylo, straight from the LFM story group.:D

It's really worth a watch. Very fun info in there. Lots of stuff we knew and some that was at least news to me.

    It warms my heart.

I just saw the movie so this moment is fresh in my mind (that moment is in this video as well) - he gives her the hand and she starts and lifts her head questioningly, Luke raises his eyebrows in a sort of "Understand?" fashion. I think she feels his touch (hand, kiss, dice), but it's not right. Anyway, that's one of the greatest moments in the movie - for the heartbreak.

There is nothing physically there with Luke. That is how he can avoid being blasted to bits via the bombardment from the walkers. Also, that is why he never actually clashes Sabers with Kylo. If Luke were to use his lightsaber as if he was really there, Kylo's would have passed right through Luke's saber and the charade would have been over at that point. Remember, Luke was doing this to give Leia and crew enough time to escape. Once he senses they are going to be safe, he lets Kylo figure out that he had been faked out.

JJ's in charge of what happens between Rey and Kylo in E9, not these Story Group geeks. They certainly aren't spoiling E9 for anyone, and if people follow the logic of the metaphor of "closing the door" on Kylo, you'd see that closed doors can be opened again (has everyone here used a door?). It certainly doesn't mean Rey has completely written him off. She looks disappointed at the end, which suggests she still has hope.

I'm no Reylo fan, but it's silly to ignore what Rian started in E8. A dark romantic drama.

These Story Group people have proven to be good at one thing: meaningless minutia.

Just looking at those gifs makes me choke up. She realizes it and he acknowledges it. He also looks absolutely decimated that this is how he has to say goodbye. Beautiful storytelling.

There was some form of physicality to it. Kylo was able to pick up the dice just before they disappeared. Not saying that they were fully physical, but something had to allow him to pick them up.

It was a great moment for sure!

She knows his time is almost over, but he's going to spend what time he has left saving everyone else.

Oh, and I just remembered: when Rey closes the door on Kylo, there is (I am 90% sure) an accompanying sound effect (and not the sound of Falcon door), sort of, very quiet 'whoosh' or rushing of sound. I am not explaining it well. I only noticed it on my fourth viewing. I'm pretty sure that was 'the caller disconnected' sound.

Rey shut the door in Kylo Ren. That doesn’t mean Ben Solo can’t open it again.

Good luck with that. I've seen it three times and walked out halfway through each time in disgust.

No really....TLJ is a wonderful film. I'm flummoxed (FLUMMOXED!!) that folks reported people walking out, booing, etc. It was a decent story and a decent film.

Your third run will yield results man. TLJ is better upon repeat viewings, in the best way.

I've seen it twice. The second time was astronomically better as I noticed a lot more of the subtleties. I would never walk out of a movie on the principal that I had already paid for the tickets!
