    I remember cringing and turning to my buddies in the cinema, we all had the same 'raspberry wrinkled ridden squinted faces'. The tone/humour was so off for me, the scene isnt JarJar bad, but it is up there for me as one of the top 5 worst scenes. I just kept thinking 'ground control to major tommm'.

    I'm trying to add humour to my tears. <3

    please forgive me: I am french, and I may use some words that may not reflect accurately what I actually think.
    What I mean by "actively" is : "she wants it".
    --> in that TLJ space moment, yes, she was knocked, but her mind/her brain/her mental/her "unconciousness"/whatever-you-want-that-comes-from-her DID want to return to life and go back to the ship ; she DEEPLY DIDN'T WANT to die here in space. And she (intentionnally, or more of a reflex as you state) invoked the Force to help her.
    --> during the ESB Bespin call from Luke, she does not want anything. She is aboard the Falcon, and she is hit by the message. This is what I call "she is not actively using the Force".

    We both agree (I agree with you).
    The "selfishness" is not really due to her.
    The selfishness I'm speaking about, is that way Rian Johnson intended to show us Leia truly has the Force and actually uses it. He could have shown us that in a lot of other ways: multiple and accurate foreseens, jedi mindtricks, force lifting, light saber twirling, acrobatic jumps ... but it is not the case. The only time Leia invokes the Force, in 5 movies, the one and unique moment we see her willing to use the force, is shown as a selfish moment.

    I do not blame Leia Organa's character for being selfish : I blame the director for having shown us that way.
    (I hope my explanations are more clear this time ;))

    No worries, I think you understood what I meant quite well- if anything, I think we disagree on our interpretation of the scene slightly.

    I see it like how your body fights back against infection. Do you tell your body how to fight back against disease, or does it take care of itself? That's how I see the Leia scene.

    Though I think I understand where you're coming from. In Bespin, you could argue Leia was merely "receiving" Luke's message. Still probably required some force sensitivity, but it's not like her body (consciously or not) was actually instigating the action.

    You know what I like about this site? When 2 people of differing view points can come to understand each other after some back and forth trying to put into words their thoughts and feelings, without letting the frustration of it all get to them. No down votes, no feet stomping and digging in their heels, but a genuine desire to understand and respect, even if they still disagree.

    @cawatrooper and @daRinze I wish I can give you 2 likes x100.
