    Looking forward to what new droids are in store for us in this episode. I'm glad we are getting more BB-style droids.. But I'd like some more new droids! Remember that 'Droid World' story from the 1980s? Or the droids hanging around the Jawa sandcrawler in ANH. I'd like Star Wars to revisit something like that. Gotta love droids.

    I've always been a 'droid guy', so I'll take the old AND the new. It would cool to see some IG-88 styled droids in action. Or some real mean-looking droids.

    I'd love to see a more powerful droid like IG-88 in action on film. We never really saw droids do too much in the OT, and the prequel droids were usually kind of a joke compared to the Jedi they faced- even the formidable MagnaGuards were pretty easily dispatched.

    It also might be neat for Star Wars to kind of tackle droid philosophy. Are droids conscious? Is destroying or deactivating a droid an immoral act? What is the relationship between droids and humans really like? I think a droid villain could actually be incredibly complex.

    My view on droids are they are the peasant class, or slaves. Like 3po said we seem to be made to suffer, its our lot in life.
    The inspiration for 3po and r2 was found in Kurosawas Hidden fortress. These two peasents escaped captivity once, then captured again. Then they escaped again and worked for the samurai general to get the princess back to her castle. So thats how i see them. So I like the labor droids, that are all dented, and rusted out. They change constantly from one hand to another.

    That RA-7 seen in the sand crawler hold always struck me as... fanciful, I 'spose. And CZ-3... wanderin' 'round Mos Eisley.
    Love astromech,too.
    Once, long ago now... I built a full size static red/silver R2... said it was for my oldest daughter (only, at the time)...wish I had photos, but is Long gone now.

    ...OH...anyways, yeah... droids, right...

    I personally HATE spiders but I loved the big practical Spider Droid from Jabba's Palace in RotJ. I'd like to see some of those but upgraded faster and more lethal. Stuff of nightmares right there.

    Sadly I think we'll see less and less of Threepio - Anthony Daniels is still in good shape for 71, but will he want to keep wearing that suit? Voice work only maybe?
    Artoo is obviously a different matter and can keep appearing as long as the stories need him. Let's not forget Kenny Baker passed away a year ago this week - I hope that TLJ pays tribute to him as well as Carrie.

    Great thread. Well, the new Hux toy comes with a mouse droid, so I'd say chances are that we'll get to see some mouse droid interaction.
