Put a black hoodie on him and he would look like Kylo Ren. :D
I just hope that he isn't skillful with a stick in melee combat.

I don't know if you noticed that, but in all of the new SW movies suddenly everybody knows how to fight with some sort of sword or stick. Finn, Phasma, Chirrut, Jyn..
It's actually annoying, and it reduces the impact of characters and mastery of someone like Kylo and Rey.

Just give him a cool blaster rifle and let him shoot his way through the story.

Prelude: Han Solo is my favorite movie character of all time. For real tho. I wanted to BE Han Solo.

Let us never forget that when we are introduced to Han Solo, he is the ultimate selfish prick. He's a prick. Only after the money, kinda after the girl, but mostly after his own self interests. He's a grade A a-hole, and that's what's sort of endearing about him.

He's 'us'. Admit it, all my 'selfish prick homies!!!'

I'm a hater of a very high degree. It's in my bones. My blood. My DNA. But this makes total sense.

WHY is everyone all of a sudden good with a stick!?

    SOMEONE.NEEDS.TO.SHOOT.SOMEONE!!! With a gun( ...unless KK/Disney is anti-gu.........................oh.............nevermind)

Meh, I think it's just kind of the trend right now. A few years ago, every movie character had a bow and arrow. Now, melee fights are in.

I think it makes for more cinematic fight scenes, too- melee is a lot more personal than shooting at someone. Trust me, the grunts will still have guns.

I see where you're coming from, BUT it looks like he's on two different planets in these teasers. So, chances are, he pops up a few times throughout the movie, maybe is even following Han. Seems like a main villain if not the main villain.

I agree, I think he's just an antagonist for the earlier parts of the film.

Could it be the Moloch dude that’s shown on the box of one of the Lego sets?

I would have preferred to see Cad Bane to be honest but the design is really cool.

I do like the look and design, it actually looked a lot like the tribes of Parnassos described in the Phasma Book and I had a moment of holy crap they are in this....but highly doubt it

I would have preferred Cad Bane as the main villain. Disney could have capitalized on the idea that Bane is Boba Fett's mentor (as seen in the Clone Wars). They could have mirrored the relationship between Han and Beckett creating some nice darkside/lightside contrast. In the showdown Han culd have killed Bane which would make the Fett/Solo relationship in ESB a lot more personal.

Well first of all I too think that person/creature/sentient is probably "the villain" but we could still be wrong. Remember the trolling of the TLJ trailers. That being said, I hope it is someone new and not just Boba Fett in a different outfit. If he's just a western-style pistolero I would be fine with it. Star Wars could use one o those.

Also Cad Bane would have been a good choice, but it could maybe look too fan-servicey. Dunno. They probably wanna create a new character.

For most people Cad Bane would basically be a new character since they have never seen the clone wars series or read the comics so this would be pretty much like seeing Saw Gerrera in R1.I really need to see a sarcastic Duro with lots of screentime in a SW movie. If not Bane than maybe him

It is difficult (production-wise) to have an alien main character, since that means either constat CGI or you put a mask on him (as his face, not a Vader-style mask). But who knows, maybe there is a non-human under that mask. Honestly I would be all for that. Since they wanna be diverse, let's have that mean aliens too.

Alien characters are no longer that much of a problem especially not Duros. All you need is a CG head, the rest is completely human. The sculpt of a Duro's head is pretty simple and the rig would be almost identical to a human face. A standard joint setup with small changes in the nasal area should be fine. Sure you would have to do some mocap data cleaning in the graph editor but you always have that even with normal human faces. A mask could be crafted to a) be scanned and used as a basis for the 3D model b) help the actors interacting with Bane and c) serve as a reliable lighting reference for the rendering artists. Oh and last but not least the head of a Duro would be larger than a humanoid head so the rendering data could be easily implemented in Nuke and aftereffects without having to worry about fixing background images.
