Rogue One, Episode 8, Han Solo, Episode 9. These are the next four movies to release and they're the only four we know of as of October of 2016. After episode 9 releases Christmas(?) of 2019, Disney will have completed their entire slate of films from Celebration 2015, opening room for a whole new list of projects to come afterwords.
In this second phase, how what kind of Star Wars film would you want to see Disney make next, and what would make it different from what we've seen before?
A crime film set entirely in the bowels Corescant or the dark alleys of Tattooine? A horror film about a unit of clones trapped on a planet inhabited by burrowing, carnivorous worms? A legacy story set hundreds of years after the original trilogy? A dark drama surrounding the events of the Old Republic? Should there be another trilogy right away, or should be just get Anthology films for a decade or so? The possibilities are endless.
I believe Disney has been given one of the only franchises that could hypothetically go on for a long time without ever getting stale. How? For one simple reason: any movie can be a Star Wars movie. Star Wars has become one of the most rich and detailed universes ever created, but to maintain its evergreen appeal, Disney will really have to shake things up with phase 2.

I would still love to see a movie about the five ESB bounty hunters plus Cad Bane and Aura Sing all competing for a bounty or something like that. There could see all kinds of alliances and back stabs, plus it would be cool to see those bad asses actually do something on the big screen.

That would have made a great The Clone Wars episode.

It would have, but I imagine the film version would be much darker and grittier than any of the animated fare. It's always been implied that some pretty messed up stuff happens in the dark corners of the Star Wars underworld.

    At this point..?!

Thing is, we're kinda still waiting for that 3rd anthology movie. But.. I have a few things that are obviously tentative. First, I want to see a Poe Dameron standalone movie. The guy is Erol Flynn. Make a movie with him and BB-8. Second: Rogue Two. I know, I know, you all want Vader to kill em all off.. I think a sequel with them and Sullust is a great idea.
I would have asked for an Asajj Ventress movie but they killed her off. In a book. The Fuher was not impressed:

Apparently they have already been planning for when that time comes. I think a comedy would work but not like LOL comedy but more subdued comedy...something i had suggested was something like a buddy-cop jedi movie where a jedi is paired up with a royal guard on a mission or something like that and they play well against each other..

But definitely not a yoda movie...I'd say something like Underworld being adapted into a feature-length movie since everything is already there..

I think a younger Qui-Gon Jinn and Yoda movie would be pretty interesting. QGJ seemed like an awesome Jedi but there were definitely hints he had some run-ins with the JC that gave him a bit of a rebel vibe. It would be unique too in it being set in a pre-prequel time frame.

I'd love to see a Bounty Hunter movie!

And if that's not possible then I want to see an all out furfest war movie about our favorite furry SW characters teaming up to kick butt and take names in the galaxy far far away! Everyone who ever stuck a piece of gum in their hair when they were little must beware as these guys mean buisness! Just imagine the lineup with Chewie as the team leader! No Ewoks allowed!

I would like some movies in a totally different period of times. Maybe the origins of the Force, the origins of the jedis and the siths. But I think EP X - XII at least will be about Rey.

What films would I like to see in the next phase? Well there are so many.....

A new trilogy of course featuring Rey, Finn and the gang of course...

    But as for anthology movies...

    - A young Luke, I want to see him fly through Beggars Canyon and Bullseye womprats, this could tie in with an Obi-Wan Kenobi film.
    - A young Leia, how did she get involved in the Rebellion? And it would be awesome to see Alderaan as well! It could feature our two favourite droids.
    - An Obi-Wan anthology film, what did he get up to between episodes 3 and 4. This could be a two parter as well.
    - Yoda's back story, this could easily be a trilogy, given that he was 900 years old at ROTJ, there's GOT to be some interesting stuff there.
    - A bounty hunter feature has already been mentioned as well as Old Republic films.
    - Another Han Solo movie set between Episodes 4 and 5, what happened at Ord Mantell?
    - Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon film, set before Episode 1...not sure how that would work but it'd still be cool.

I really think that people need to understand that Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm are operating on completely different models as far as handling franchises go, even though both are owned by Disney.

The Marvel Studios model of business relies upon the concept of a shared universe - something that's only really been done way, way back with the Universal Monsters movies (albeit only a few times) and with Japanese monster movies (Toho's Godzilla and related characters being the most well-known example). The only other company that's currently doing what Marvel Studios is doing is Warner Brothers with the nascent DC Extended Universe (and sure, Twentieth Century Fox is trying to do this with their X-Men franchise, but due to the way that their film continuities are set up, it's not crossover-friendly), which - while divisive - has proven to be profitable. Other companies are trying to make passes at this with their own properties (including Universal with their Universal Monsters series, Paramount with their Transformers series and spin-offs, Sony with their Spider-Man series under Marvel's supervision and spin-offs, and Warner Brothers again with their planned Godzilla/King Kong setting), but for now, it's a largely untested format.

Conversely, the model that's being used at Lucasfilm is one reserved for most franchises - make a popular "main" series, and then consider doing spin-offs as time goes by. I could make the case that Fox's X-Men movies fit this format much more closely than they do with the shared universe format, for instance. But the clear difference between this format and the shared universe format is that the movies in question aren't being made with the intention of "crossing over" for some kind of eventual event movie - it's just "Movie Series A" and "Movie Series B", if even that. I doubt that they're going to make a Rogue Two: Electric Boogaloo film that's some kind of a lead-up to Episode Whatever - they could do some kind of spiritual sequel to Rogue One, but it'll be "another Rogue One movie" instead of "required viewing to enjoy the main series".

So there isn't going to be a Phase 2, because Disney doesn't have a Phase 1 to begin with. We'll just get more spin-offs after Episode IX until they determine that the time is right to make an Episode X.

I still can't think of something that seems viable for a movie.
    Maybe a Wookieball movie??

I would like to see them continue to do the "Star Wars Story" movies in the even years, but after Episode IX i think we need a break between trilogies...otherwise they're just a succession of movies, not independent trilogies. I would like to see a seperate trilogy, Obi-Wan or Old Republic perhaps, to fill those years then revisit the next main story trilogy in...2027, which would give us 8 years between ep IX and X giving them the feel of independent trilogies while also not pissing off the actors and completely taking over their careers and lives indefinitely.

I don't think they'll wait that long between IX and X - but I do get the feeling that a standalone trilogy or duology could come between an actual continuation of the saga.

I want to see the events between ROTJ and TFA with Luke, Han and Leia. The best would be animation to show it. :)

I love the clones trapped on a planet with burrowing killer worms Idea. Would deffo watch a clone centric movie. Is Temura Morrison too old to play them now though?

Other than that - Old Republic is a must at some stage. Maybe something from the Darth Bane era.

A Coruscant cop movie could be good.

A canon version of the outbound flight. Only loosely based on the idea.

    Darth Plageuis

I also like something in the future of the galaxy idea, legacy style.

I've come around to the idea of Ewan McGregor doing an Obi Wan movie, but I want it to be a western style thing totally set on Tatooine. I don't like the idea of him leaving for adventures around the galaxy during the post CW period. Doesn't really fit with the Kenobi we knew in ANH.

Think they're gonna do that with the animated series that replaces rebels.

An anthology focused on Kylo Ren as he goes on his own Jedi adventure on some strange planet where a dark force leads him to become a Sith and join Snoke.
