That's exactly how I felt, I was telling myself it's good until I realized the book completely avoids exploring Kenobi as a post war exile.
Why in the world would we need a novel in which events have no impact on the SW universe? *_*

Darth Bane trilogy is my favorite. The first of the trilogy Path of Destruction I know I have read at least 5 times probably more though I lost count. Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice was a very good novel as well.

Yeah, I was at first very skeptical of Darth Bane but it turned out one of the better trilogies.
It really captures the KOTOR era well and there was surprisingly "character" behind the tall brute.

Yeah the Kotor and Old Republic was my favorite era of the old EU because it had the ability to kind of create its own thing more so than the others that had to stick to the same formula as the movies. Bane and Revan to me where the most compelling characters of the EU.

Although not a novel I liked the Sith vs Jedi comic book mini series and I really liked the Plagueis novel as well.

I acctually just got one of the Young Jedi Knight books a couple days ago. I always saw them but I think I only read some of the first one with the tie fighter pilot.

Cool, what do you think of it so far? Anderson has always been my EU favorite author and this was a true find for me!
I bought the entire soft cover series from this lady in England for $40 in practically mint condition. =)

I have always wanted to read those but when the buyout came along it seemed a little mute but what the heck canon or not I may give it a go!

I've just started reading "Millennium Falcon" and man is it good... I don't remember the last book I enjoyed as much!!! =)
There's no one that gets the original cast mannerisms like Luceno!

I love "Shadows of the Empire", maybe mostly because it was the first EU book I read

I really liked the bane and the thrawn trilogy, Darth Plagueis was hard to read but very informative.
As the most of you seem to like "shadow of the empire" that`s gonna be my next one.

At the moment im reading "Balance point"...which is not really good...and boy I hate that "Droma" guy, perhaps I just don`t want
him to replace chewie...ohhh chewie...I miss you (chewie)

What is the first book to really dive into the Solo twins adventures? Adult novels, not that young-readers crap I read as a kid (Galaxy of Fear, etc.)

Aaaahhh okay...so I think Vector Prime of the New Jedi Order books is a good way to start if you like to read more about the twins and anakin solo.
But honestly...I regret to have started the NJO book series...the books are okay but not really breathtaking. So I read now the six book and I really
have to fight to continue reading. (duel)

If you are looking for something good to read I think the bane trilogy or the Old republic books are way better :)

I've read every Old Republic and Bane book. I liked them all but Deception.

It's been years since I read an EU book - like 15 years or more. And I'm glad this topic is up because there is an EU book that I loved - but I can't remember the author or title. Can you guys help me find it again?

All I really remember is Admiral Ackbar sets one hell of a trap by mining the area in space where he knows the Imperial fleet is going to land when they exit hyperspace.

Can anybody help me with the title?

I would highly recommend the YOUNG JEDI KNIGHTS:
    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Young_Jedi_Knights

Even though these are intended for young teens, I'm in the middle of the series
and it's a blast! It's surprisingly dark, with great development on Jacen and Jaina.
If you wanna opt out and go straight to adult novel section try these.

    THRAWN TRILOGY:
    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Thrawn_Trilogy

Not sure if you read those but this is THE expanded universe series to read.
It's regarded one of the best SW novel series, for a good reason too. It features
the twins from early age but they're not prominent in the story. Mostly you see
the villains threat Leia and Solo family by attacking their weak spot, the children.

    JEDI ACADEMY TRILOGY:
    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Jedi_Academy_Trilogy

This one is one of my personal favorites. Luke re-establishing the Jedi Order.
Again the twins are pretty young but I felt this series truly threw the twins into
the larger world and gave them their own thrills and adventure.
I'D SAY READ THIS ONE FIRST... you won't regret it!!!

I just started reading Heir to the Empire and it's been good so far. I know it's the highest regarded EU novel ever ;)
I read Young Jedi Knights as a kid in Junior High too.
