Liam Neeson reported as interested in joining the cast of Obi-Wan series

Part of me is like, "Cool!" And part of me is like, "Well, how discerning has he been about his projects recently, anyway?"

 

....and a third part of me is like "Damnnnnn.....get the de-aging CGI program fired up !!!!"

 

Do you think they'd have to de-age? I feel like he could still pull off the Qui-Gon look and it wouldn't be too weird for him to look older as a ghost.

 

Yep I think some CGI may be in order....father time is catching up to him.....

 

Qui-Gon is one of the best characters.

Just saying

 

Nothing has deterred my hope for this show. Everything seems to be falling in place for what needs to be shown.
As I have often said since day 1, the “must” moments should include:
1) Kenobi attempting to train Luke
2) Kenobi’s fallout with Uncle Owen.
3) Kenobi learning to be a Force Ghost with teaching from Yoda and/or Qui Gon Jinn.

If this Liam Neeson rumor is true, then #3 on my list will be happening. I am so excited for this show. Apart from Acolyte, this is literally the only thing I have “asked” Lucasfilm for. (Note: I’ve liked a great deal of what we’ve gotten thus far, but I never asked for any of it.)

I do not think there should be an issue in “de-aging” Neeson. Though he has more prominent facial wrinkles, de-aging tech is easy with a few airbrush strokes (look at Kurt Russell from Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Mace Windu from Captain Marvel.)

And what is he supposed to say? No? For what it's worth, it sounds genuine. Hell, remember he lent his voice for The Clone Wars.

 

I would love it if they bring him back for this, even ‘just’ as a voice. A de-aged flashback scene could be great too.

 

Hmm... maybe.

Give him the hair and beard, add in some ghost effects, and I don't think it'd be too far off still.

Digital de-aging may be in order, but it probably wouldn't take much.

 

I really hope this becomes a reality. If it does, then my anticipation for this show has been kicked up another notch.

 

mostly i agree, but how would kenobi attempt to train luke? this is supposed to take place about half way between episodes 3 and 4 where luke would be 10ish. luke had no idea about the jedi or even the force til ep 4.

 

Correct. I said “attempt” to train in my original comment. Obviously no training occurs. But I would expect a conversation. After all, Luke knew who Kenobi was; in episode 4, Luke took one look at his face and said “Ben?” So they have been acquainted.

 

I assume Liam will be back. Why not, after all he is not retired and they can always find a way to force-ghost him somehow
