So I remember reading in the new canon that red crystals are actually artificial. I was on reddit and read this:

It states that Ashoka bled the crystal to the current state by "Rebels" to their white state after taking the crystal from the sixth brother.

...How does that work? Since when can you bleed an artificial crystal? I am a bit confused by it.

Interesting. This might be a new process that Disney wants to create and turn into canon. No doubt this will be ellaborated further with Ashoka being so much on the rise in popularity lately. It's almost a given that she will die in Mandalorian, but it's unclear if we will ever get to see this little tidbit of information in action. A comic or video game cameo explaining it would be a nice tie-in as well.

I thought dark side users have to force the crystals to obey them and they bleed. Now Ahsoka has healed that crystal from bleeding. But I don't know every bit of new canon.

Rumor is she will be the star of another Star Wars live action show. If that's the case she would survive. Her popularity as you've said makes her a money maker for Disney so it would be odd to kill her off.

"Bleeding" is the process of lightsaber blades changing color. When a lightsaber's wielder falls to the dark side, the blade is "infected", resulting in the crystal turning, or "bleeding" red. The same thing applies to dark side wielders becoming jedi again. The red blade would turn green or blue or purple. Ahsoka's blades were bled red. She then defeated the wielder and the blades became attached to her. They bled white because they were bled red before.

I thought that, to get a red lightsaber, you have to channel your hatred, etc. into the crystal. not automatic

In legends, there was something like this called cleansing. It only happened one time, when Jaden Korr turned a red crystal yellow. I don't think that there were any more examples of this though.

I'm all in for more and varied lightsaber hues, and I think it's great that they try to give some explanation for them. This whole bleeding/cleansing crystals processes and rituals are fascinating in my view!
