I think I found a really superb little detail watching TRoS again.

In the scene where Palpatine is expecting Rey to strike him down, and he says "make the sacrifice!" if you listen verrry carefully as the music swells about 4 seconds later, I believe you can hear, buried in the sound mix and maybe pitched down slightly, "Nooooo... Noooo.... " from Palpatine as he was about to kill Mace Windu in RotS, after Windu says "The oppression of the Sith will never return. You have lost.", before Palpatine says "...you will die...".

I think it's very very cool. It also recalls all the other instances of "noooo" of course, of which there are many, including the scream of "noooo" during Yoda's mediatation when Anakin goes loco on the sandpeople in Episode II, and also makes me think of that unhinged 'evil'/possesed voice Palpatine does, that kind guttural 'Sith collective voice' as I think of it, here as though all the Sith within Palpatine are excited that they are finally going to get their new vessel, and that Windu's claim the oppression of the Sith will never return was about to be proven wrong, again.

In RoTS of course Windu was proven wrong very quickly, but here, Palpatine is about to be proven wrong by Rey and Ben in a delightful, intentional, reversal of the prequel trilogy's third episode and echo of the original trilogy's third episode (as is nowadays with Lucas' official revisions)... it also makes an ironic link to Vader's controversial 'NOOOoooooooo's from Eps 3 and 6 - here, It's a "noooooo... noooooo" of delight from a gleeful Sith rather than one of abject pain/anger (RotS) or determination/resolve (RoTJ).

Man, I love Star Wars. :D

Anyway, next time you watch TRoS listen out for it and see if you can hear it too!

Following on from my last post here, when Rey picks up the Sith dagger in Kylo’s quarters she remembers / hears herself say “no” twice, once as a child, before saying it in the scene.

Also on the fight in Kylo’s quarters, have you all listened to all those weird sounds? Right after Rey splits open the bag of red berries and there’s a a close-up on her face you can hear “SkY ... WAalkekkerr” (kind of robot-icised if you take my meaning... it’s maybe a sample of Palpatine from later on when he disposes of Ben? Or Yoda from his death bed in RotJ? Not sure, would welcome theories!).

I think there’s some other stuff in the audio of that fight scene too (maybe “Rey” and “Ren”?) But the “Sky...walker” one seems super-obvious once you hear it, but I think easily missed if you haven’t.

I just noticed something the other day. In re-watching the scene where Ben says

    Ben: Dad......
    Han: I know.

I never got it before, but it's a call back to when Leia (?) tells Han she loves her. And his response is "I know".

What Ben is doing in that scene....where his voice drops off. Is essentially telling Han he's sorry for what he did.

And that's exactly why that scene is one of my top five scenes in the ST. It's beautiful.

Yep it's a subtle mirror, as Ben doesn't say "I love you" - but he actually says it, not in words. Subtle as hell.
The scene is also graphically mirrored, as if I remember correctly, Leia stands on the left and Han on the right - here, Han stands on the right and Ben on the left.

There are actually some solid scenes in the ST.

Han forgiving Ben was a classic scene.
