SPECULATION Lobot-like Bridge Officer at 0:47 in Trailer (Far left - Male or Alien, but definitely Bald!)

I was relishing the trailer frame by frame (again) and discovered there's a Lobot-type bridge officer at 0:47 in Trailer 3 at the far left manning a control panel. The red light of the projectile in the background is reflecting off this character's bald head, and it definitely looks like a cybernetic head implant, otherwise known as a "Borg Construct," probably modified. If it's not that, it's a chick with some crazy Leia-like cinnamon bun wrapped around the cranium. Actually, I'm now totally convinced it's edible. The smell of freshly-baked cinnamon rolls must've permeated the entire bridge, creating a Holiday atmosphere conducive to efficient Starkilling...

Anyway, the character looks male by stature in comparison to the other female bridge officers, or possibly alien. I didn't notice this character before because the big Kylo Ren character introduction kind of overshadows any minor details. It's a scene with heavy dialogue and I admit I was checking out the other clearly female bridge officers. In fact, these female bridge officers are all wearing caps EXCEPT for the Lobot-type character at far left and, at far right, another male bridge officer, who may or may not be wearing a typical officer cap.

    Wide shot

    EDIT:
What's the importance of a Lobot-like character in TFA? Maybe nothing, just that it's cool and it's another thing that hearkens back to the OT. However, it conjures potential connections to Cloud City where Lobot was an assistant to Lando. We know Cloud City was an independent commercial gas mining operation...an important locale in TESB...especially because that's where Luke confronted Vader and lost both his hand and Anakin's blue lightsaber. We know possession of that lightsaber is a main plot point in TFA. This shot from the TFA trailer merely shows the First Order has a similar character using the same cybernetic technology as Lobot in TESB. It could be instrumental to the plot ... or it may not be. But it's worth pointing out that Lobot was actually very, very instrumental because he was signaled by Lando to release Leia, Chewy and Threepio in TESB so they could escape, and THAT ultimately allowed Luke to be rescued dangling precariously from beneath Cloud City.

    Well spotted.
I'm going to say he's human, and not alien... because based on the Starkiller parade ground shots, it looks like that First Order is very much a human only organisation...
What about Snoke? Well there's a reason we haven't seen him yet... I don't think most people in the First Order have seen him either.

Agreed with human. Male human, that is. From this view, sorta looks like a massive deformed cranium, like Sloth from the Goonies...so with that perspective I felt I had to say he's potentially an alien as an alternative viewpoint so I don't get skewered on here as being short-sighted.

Most likely... but on a related note, notice how many female crew members there are appear to be on the bridge? The First Order seem to be really embracing gender equality.

They're kind of missing some of the symbolism though.

I wonder if there's a relationship between Cloud City, where we were first introduced to Lobot in TESB, and this. We know the Lobot-like cybernetic technology was available and has likely advanced in the past 30 years. But why does the FO have it and not the Resistance (that we know of)?

It's shiny. And because in the second sentence of my post I say "The red light of the projectile in the background is reflecting off this character's bald head..."

I'm not sure if serious. There's nothing in that image or traile that remotely confirms the being is bald, anymore than those wearing hats have hat-shaped haircuts.

Nope. And yes, I'm serious. Yep, definitely bald. Watch the trailer frame by frame in Quicktime, not YouTube. The character turns from left to right as the shot segue is fading in from black and you can tell the dude is as bald as Daddy Warbucks and he's wearing what appears to be a Borg Construct. Lobot-like. The shape is undeniable to any reasonable person who's seen The Empire Strikes Back. But then again, you're Assy McGee. :) High five. *Slap

I'd say there's only one type of hat with two ways to wear that 'back flap'.

Good point. I love it. Nice screenshots, by the way. Where did you get the one in the background with the blurry silhouettes?

The silhouette is larger than lobot's. The reflection could easily be a reflection on a helmet. Your evidence is lacking and you should hang your head in shame because of it.
Of course, you may be right, but the evidence you presented here would still not support that fact. It's a shot with a giant lens flare and silnouettes, you're seeing what you want to see.

    Groty over on Reddit Xur:
Yes, you're right, the silhouette is certainly larger than Lobot's. But I didn't claim this was Lobot. I posited that this is a "Lobot-type character." It's true, I see what I want to see, and what I see is objectively observable in the trailer by anyone. I hold my head high. I refuse to be shamed. What would hang my head low (though not in shame) is having to wear a goddamned thing like that all day.

I think it's an optical illusion and the sickening thing is, is that you may never find out for sure.

Ha, well there's no relationship between Lobot and Plageuis. Fuzzy logic. Funny though because I get what you're saying about fixating on a particular character. Here, it's just noticing that a Lobot-like character is definitely in The Force Awakens, conjuring potential connections to Cloud City where Lobot was an assistant to Lando. We know Cloud City was an independent commercial gas mining operation. And Cloud City was important in TESB because that's where Luke had his hand cutoff and lost his Anakin's blue lightsaber...and possession of that lightsaber is a main plot point of The Force Awakens. This shot from the trailer merely shows the First Order has a similar character using the same cybernetic technology. It could be instrumental to the plot ... or it may not be.
