SPECULATION Lor San Tekka (Max Von Sydow's Character).

As was I... in the thread for the release of the original concept art, when it was discovered that the concept art was indeed unused concept art from the OT, there was quite a bit of discussion over the Montross character, who he originally was intended to be, and who he might be in TFA

He's freakin amazing... one of my favourite actors

 

One word. Ew. But yeah! And remember, with skin sheaths, even the 2 hands in the concept art could be robotic.

As I thought more and more about who is a cyborg, I came to the conclusion that they would not cover MvS's iconic face with greenscreen. It's a disgrace to a classic actor. Same goes for Ian and Alec and Chris Lee.

 

Someone on Reddit just suggested that Max von Sydow could be playing a new character named Antron Bach, an antiques dealer who helped preserve the history of the Jedi after the Great Jedi Purge. Bach is first mentioned in a short story which was published just this past December in an issue of Star Wars Insider. This story is regarded as canonical. It has been rumored that Max von Sydow plays a collector of Jedi artifacts, so the possibility of him playing Antron Bach would seem, at least at first glance, to be very probable.

If it's from Reddit, my first thought would be to disregard... however...

 

Indeed it is. The fact that this canonical character was introduced in such close proximity to the release of the movie would seem to make this startling connection exceedingly likely to really mean something.

 

The poster on Reddit did not claim to have any insider information; he was not purporting to be another Spoilerman or anything like that. He merely, as we do, found the similarities between Antron Bach and descriptions of Sydow's character to be striking and wanted to point them out. Perhaps Viral Hide, Kyle, and Jason Ward can run this correspondence between Sydow's mystery character and Bach by their sources to see if they can get any further information.

 

An idea concerning "The End of History," the short story that introduces Bach, which just occurred to me—in the story, Bach is living in seclusion on a moon orbiting Geonosis with his artifacts when a resistance fighter named Miru Nadrinakar crash-lands her ship nearby. At the end of the story, Bach helps Nadrinakar elude Imperial forces pursuing her by allowing her to use his starship to escape the moon. Nadrinakar is identified as being from Corellia, the home planet of Han Solo. Rumors have suggested that Max von Sydow is in contact with Han Solo for some unknown reason. Maybe Nadrinakar will turn out to be Han Solo's mother and Solo will be close friends with Bach because Bach once saved his mother's life at the risk of his own. This is highly speculative, but I just figured I should throw this out there since I thought this would be a nice way of connecting Solo and Bach together.

But someone definitely has to further investigate the remarkable parallels between Antron Bach and Max von Sydow's character!

Reading around the End of History, I'm surprised that Jedi surviving Order 66 is canon. I really thought all Jedi were exterminated except Yoda, Obi-Wan and the twins. But then I guess there'd be no call for Jedi Hunters and Inquisitors if that were the case, so shame on me!

Anyone know anything about Uvell, the Jedi who tasked Antron with preserving artefacts of the Jedi Order?

And, what would those artefacts be, do you think?....

 

Han Solo was, however, an orphan raised by pirates/smugglers... I see your point, but I don't think we'll see that happen!

*Edit*: joke's on me, I'm still having a hard time letting go of the EU... It is never mentioned how Han was brought up in the movies/canon history. My bad.

 

As for Max Von Sydow I think he play a senator in TFA or a imperial admiral.

 

If the leaked concept art is accurate then he would have to be in hiding if he was an imperial admiral?

 

Not really seeing those tie fighters flying around in the trailer proves the imperials are still fighting so he might be in command of some star destroyers somewhere Im just hoping for him to play a good role.

 

Don't forget Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy where they aged him by 10-15 years, the guy is amazing

 

I've heard that Antron Bach rumor before, but I don't know where. I'd welcome it.
