i endeavored to find an existing thread on Lor San Tekka, but to no avail. I wanted to point out something I noticed.

The brillant Max Von Sydow played Jesus Christ in “The Greatest Story Ever Told”

    Christ dies on a cross

Interestingly Max Von Sydow as Lor San Tekka in The Force Awakens is killed by Kylo Ren who uses a crossguard lightsaber:

I thought the symbolism is really neat. Max dies as Jesus in “The Greatest Story Ever Told” for the sins of mankind, and to bring hope to mankind, while Lor San Tekka he has the map to the hope of the galaxy Luke Skywalker who becomes the Saviour of the Resistance and his friends and family.

Max potrays the Christian Savior and a man in TFA who has a map to a savior. And in both films he dies on a cross; one of wood, and the other a energy blade of a lightsaber.
