Let’s not focus on toxic fans anymore. We have a new animated show coming along, about rogue clones in the early days of the Empire, which, as far as I can tell, is a new and fairly original concept.

The problem is (in my opinion) they are at the moment. Again, I’m merely referring to toxic “fans” such as your geeks & games, fandom menace and lucas order types. Not all prequel, clone wars fans.

Lucasfilm seem desperate to win these people back, but even when they enjoy the content (Rogue One, Final Season of TCW, Mandalorian) they still aren’t happy. There’s always a reason they still hate Lucasfilm/Disney/Kathleen Kennedy.

    I don’t think it’s a coincidence we’re getting;

    Kenobi series (soft PT/TCW sequel)
    Cassian series (Rogue One prequel)
    Bad Batch (soft TCW sequel)

The Mandalorian season 2 is basically being turned into a soft TCW sequel as well.

These are all (in my opinion) blatant attempts to create content to appease the vocal minority. Disney literally built a brand off pandering to middle America and feels like this is their attempt to do the same with Star Wars. There’s nothing wrong with people enjoy that content, I just wish it was more varied instead of going after one demographic (for the wrong reasons).

Fair enough. It's just I'm having a hard time picturing Lucasfilm caring that much about toxic YouTubers or Fandumb Menace types.

The Bad Batch arc was fine, just not outstanding to me. If we are going with a post-season 7 time slot for the new show, having Echo in the mix will make it a little more interesting, at least to my mind.

I can't imagine this will get four seasons like Rebels. I think they want to tell a very specific story.

You could be right. I don't think there's enough there for even two seasons, but what do I know?

I'll check it out to because I have Disney +, to be fair and it's star wars but I'm not hyped much

I recently finished watching the entire CW series (plus final season of course) for the first time. Late to the party, I know. It took a bit for the series to find its legs but once it did I thoroughly enjoyed it. I went right into a rewatch of Rebels (continuing Ahsoka's journey) now. Anyway, Bad Batch wasn't my favorite arc but I like this era of SW and I'm sure there will be some familiar cameos thrown it -- hopefully not overdone. My one concern is that in CW and Rebels -- and this is JMHO of course -- it took both a solid season to really hit stride. The Bad Batch series storyline needs to come out of the gate swinging.

All that said, I'll go into this optimistic. Will certainly be tuning in.

I wonder if this show will be used to bridge TCW to Rebels a little more- maybe even show us something like Kanan or Cal on the run, Hera doing jobs, etc. I know some were expecting that in the TCW finale, but it could work here too.

Am not saturated of SW. Am saturated of Clone Wars era. Am tired of soldiers, and clones and robot armies. Bad batch episodes were really cheesy and lame.
In the end the OT period will be the forgotten one. Plenty of stories involving OT characters with a good CGI show and they bring this to us. Or even more, explore new eras and sotires with a proper animation.
    Not interested.

Doesn't seem like the would have any robot armies. More like the same era, as the Fallen Order.

    Well shoot....

As I'm OT-centric by nature, I actually enjoy the PT era above the ST...and in fact, I loved TCW and Rebels, but I personally felt like I already got my fill of the bad batch boys, and am not especially interested in being saturated with more of the same. I like the characters, but am not terribly interested in more, but it's fine...I may still watch it, or at least some of it.

There’s a stupendous amount of potential with this project. It’s a unique and compelling story by its nature that only Star Wars has the opportunity to tell. But will it really invest and mine for that prospect, or will it be a shallow mission-of-the-week style head knock that only occasional rubs up against those possibilities? Have to tune it to find out.

I might be the least informed SW fan on this forum about the Bad Batch (I missed TCW bandwagon and only saw til about S3, and haven't seen the new season yet). But hey, it's Star Wars and I can't help but be excited about new content.

I know its not allowable due to the budget and/or timeframe, but my only gripe is that it isn't live action. Give Temuera Morrison the chance to play 5 different characters and just let it all out. You already have your TCW fanbase established, now get some "new" fans into TCW-type stuff by making it appeal to a broader audience. I know I shouldn't knock a show just for being animated, I loved Rebels, but I just can't help but be biased towards live action shows.

Hot take: animation is just a medium to tell your story. You can make it as dark or gritty as you want (*looks at video games*) it's no different then using live action. Why animation as to have this stigma I'll never know.

It's just easier for me to immerse myself into the universe when its live action. It's more awe-inspiring, and simply more believable. I'd have the same gripes right now about the Mandalorian if we got the same exact product but in a different (animated) medium.

And really it has nothing to do with me wanting it to be "dark and gritty" or even more adult-themed. I just wanna see some darned clones in darned real life. Pretend real life, of course.

I'm guessing it's because they spend money on merch and think that they are the most likely to spend money. Hopefully, and this is fingers crossed, they keep the films for a broader demographic and leave

I honestly understand the money issue. But I really wish that Disney had partnered with Netflix. Disney could have stayed producing children fare. And left the adult content to Netflix. And when I say adult I don't mean gratuitous sex scenes and violence. I just mean something that has more depth and where you don't need to be 15 years old to appreciate it.

I am completely with you. I honestly would have loved to see a more politically themed show. Along the lines of House of Cards/GOT/I Claudius. The right blend of politics, intrigue and action. Something that appeals both the heart and the mind.

I think I watched about 2 episodes of TCW and stopped. It's just Band of Brothers in Space. Granted I am not a fan of straight up combat films, but I just couldn't move myself to care.

I don't really do cartoons but yeah the odd episodes interest me if it's like a key important situation that locks down cannon. To be honest there are only two things that I have really hated in the whole franchise and neither of them are cartoon based, so yeah I will give it a try. There's not much going on in all honesty watching a kids show and staying at home during in a pandemic is helpful. After all, this could be going on for a number of years. More Star Wars the better.
