From what I can tell, that's pretty much the ONLY noticeable thing that was changeed, right? besides the wampa scene with other small, minor changes ?

No, there's a number of noticeable changes, but they are all improvements and continuity fixes.

That's probably why it's harder for me to notice compared to ANH lol (that's a good thing btw) .

The big changes have been mentioned but some of the smaller changes are the hallways on Bespin, which used to be all white, but now have windows.

Although it might have already been mentioned, the CGI effects of AOTC and ROTS just don't hold up well on television as evidenced by today's TBS marathon.

Yep. Agree with everything said here, it's completely unnecessary! I agree with little CGI pick ups, eg lighting, enhancing some of the models and just animating small things! But serious what where they smoking here........

Death Sticks . The scene in AOTC with obi-wan at the bar was directly inspired by early producers' meetings at Skywalker Ranch with Lucas ;) .

I missed that?! (vicious) For some reason I guess I keep thinking that's always been there. It probably doesnt necessarily FEEL that it holds up because of how advanced tv vfx have become and we expect a lot more these days

I'm one of the few people who grew up with the unaltered OT and generally prefers the idea of the special editions, save for a few awful changes (I loathe the Jedi Rocks sequence and hate the greedo-shoots-first crap). If the SEs were simply effects upgrades (like luke's sandspeeder-with-vaseline-smudge-underneath) or putting windows in Cloud City, I'd be happy. Unfortunately, yes, many of these "upgrades" have now aged worse than the original versions they were intended to improve.

I'd be thrilled if they enhanced and improved the effects in the OT (like Adywan has done so wonderfully --- in fact, with how much fan-outreach Lucasfilm does these days ---such as having R2 model builders actually get hired to make R2 units in TFA --- it seems within the realm of possibility they should hire him). I'd also reaaaalllly like to see the effects in the prequels updated. Few people would complain about meddling with those films, and they could only be improved by a modernization. Hell, the green screen effects in AOTC are painful. At least make the prequels look good, even if the dialog and acting can't be fixed.

That's fine if you don't mind the effects, but to most of us, they stick out like a sore thumb. Thankfully the Luke scream was removed again in the most recent release.

There is an option for that, it's the second one down.

Agreed, ESB has definitely fared the best in that department. My gripes are pretty minor with that one. My biggest complaint is probably the added CGI scene of the probe droid at the beginning of the film. We first see it close up as the practical effect, covered in snow, but then when it switches to the CGI shot, the snow disappears and it is way too smooth looking. It's definitely noticeable and somewhat lazy, but all in all, considering how brief the scene is, a very minor gripe.

I would say that a lot of the changes to ESB were actually for the better, especially stuff like adding windows to Cloud City.

I love the additions that Lucas made to the street scenes for Mos Eisley. It made the scene featuring Luke and Obi-Wan's arrival even more colorful.

I have to disagree here, to interrupt a perfect scene and piece of music ("hyperspace") by adding an absolutely superfluous landing scene on the Executor and recycling a different shot from Vader's arrival on Death Star II from ROJ is really not my cup of tea.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I could see Disney/LFL doing one more total upgrade of all the SFX to all the exist Star Wars episodes but I don't think it should be either a spotty thing or even necessary at all. There should be no content change unless its to rollback any SE changes in the OT. Once its done, just say its a permanent from this point on the effects are what they are and no more changes. There has to be a stopping point. I don't mind the effects now and could live with them as they are. I will not love them any less if they look dated. I love many of the sci-fi movies that look horribly dated but are still awesome. I hold up Forbidden Planet as a prime example of that. Some of the effects look so cheesy and fake but I still love it them. The flaws in the effects have character in themselves and give them a flavor. I don't know maybe I am even arguing for a complete roll back with myself hehehe. I could live with either way

No. Lucasfilm needs to REMOVE the cgi and all the other extra stuff from the Special Editions.
I want a restoration of the 1977 Star Wars, 1980 Empire and 1983 Jedi.

Oh, me too, my point is that we probably won't get that, and if we have to settle for the Special Editions, at least make them less cringe worthy ;).
